A series of rich activities to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam University of Fine Arts

The 100th anniversary celebration of the Indochina College of Fine Arts - Vietnam University of Fine Arts (1925-2025) was attended by Ms. Alix Turolla Tardieu, granddaughter of painter Victor Tardieu - founder and first principal of the school and Mr. Arnaullt Fontani, great-grandson of sculptor Evariste Jonchere - second principal of the Indochina College of Fine Arts.

On November 12, in Hanoi , Vietnam University of Fine Arts met with the press to inform about a series of activities celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Indochina University of Fine Arts - Vietnam University of Fine Arts.

Vietnam University of Fine Arts was established in 1925, and after 100 years of formation and development, it has proven the influence, importance and position of art in modern Vietnamese social life. The stature and mission of the school have been affirmed as the leading center of fine arts training and education in Vietnam, influential in the region and of interest in the international fine arts community.

Over the course of a century, the school has trained generations of artists, teachers, and art researchers. Many have been awarded the Ho Chi Minh Prize, the State Prize for Literature and Art, and the title of People's Artist and Meritorious Artist. Generations of students have been constantly creative, contributing to enriching the artistic life, while spreading aesthetic and humanistic values ​​in society.

Chairwoman of the Council of the Vietnam University of Fine Arts Pham Thi Thanh Tu informed that to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Indochina School of Fine Arts - Vietnam University of Fine Arts (1925-2025), the school organized a series of rich and unique activities including: "Exhibition 100+" displaying typical specialized works of students of the Faculty of Painting including 3 majors of lacquer, oil painting and silk, affirming the current training quality of the school, taking place from October 31 to November 15 at the Museum of the Vietnam University of Fine Arts (42 Yet Kieu, Cua Nam Ward, Hanoi); exhibition "100 years of modern art: Collection of the Vietnam University of Fine Arts and the Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts" taking place from November 14 to 24, at the Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts (66 Nguyen Thai Hoc, Hanoi); The international exhibition "Vietnam University of Fine Arts and Friends" takes place from November 14 to 24, at Art Space, Vietnam University of Fine Arts (42 Yet Kieu).

On this occasion, the school also awarded the Victor Tardieu Award. The award was founded and first implemented in 2025, for the excellent graduation papers of students in all majors and specialties of the Vietnam University of Fine Arts, including Painting, Graphics, Sculpture, Graphic Design, Art Pedagogy and Art Theory, History & Criticism.

In particular, the 100th Anniversary Ceremony of the Indochina College of Fine Arts - Vietnam University of Fine Arts (1925-2025) will be held on November 15. This is an opportunity for generations of teachers and students of the Vietnam University of Fine Arts to review the good traditions and plan for a future development in the new era - the era of national development.

Regarding the celebration, the school said that the ceremony was held solemnly to pay tribute to generations of artists, teachers, and students of the school; launch the publication "100-year mark - Indochina College of Fine Arts - Vietnam University of Fine Arts"; and release the documentary "Vietnam University of Fine Arts 100-year journey".

In particular, the celebration was attended by Ms. Alix Turolla Tardieu - granddaughter of Mr. Victor Tardieu - founder, first Principal of the school and Mr. Arnaullt Fontani, great-grandson of sculptor Evariste Jonchere - second Principal of the Indochina College of Fine Arts.
