Farmer-Centered Transformation Program 2021-2025 in Vietnam

On November 14, in Can Tho City, Stichting Agriterra Netherlands in collaboration with Can Tho City Cooperative Alliance organized a workshop to summarize the Farmers Focused Transformation Program (FFT) for the period 2021-2025.

About 100 delegates attended the workshop, including representatives of the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance, cooperatives, and enterprises from provinces and cities.

In Vietnam, from 2017 to present, Agriterra has accompanied more than 60 cooperatives, 16 cooperative alliances and farmers' associations in 16 provinces and cities, bringing benefits to about 80,000 farmers.

In the 2021-2025 period alone, the program has supported 35 agricultural cooperatives, focusing on improving governance capacity, business development, digital transformation, climate change adaptation, and enhancing the role of women and youth in cooperatives.

Ms. Cao Xuan Thu Van - President of Vietnam Cooperative Alliance said: With the spirit of "Taking farmers as the center", the program is not only a technical support project, but also a process of transforming the thinking, approach and operation methods of cooperatives - from the traditional model to a dynamic, creative model, taking the market as the orientation and taking members as the center of service.

The Program's activities such as training cooperative staff, enhancing the role of women and youth, supporting access to capital, and improving the capacity to provide sustainable services have helped many cooperatives truly become a solid support for farmers and the nucleus of sustainable agricultural development in the locality.

The workshop is an opportunity to recognize the efforts of cooperatives and stakeholders in the journey of farmer-centered transformation.

At the workshop, delegates discussed issues on approaches, objectives, key interventions, key achievements and lessons learned from FFT; relevant projects and programs that can continue to connect, support and build partnerships with cooperatives in the FFT program; solutions to expand and maintain good results of FFT and promote cooperation between cooperatives and projects, partners...
