Art program to honor musician Do Nhuan

(PLVN) - On the evening of December 6, at the Hai Phong City Convention and Performance Center, the Hai Phong Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the City Contemporary Arts Theater organized the art program "Do Nhuan - Sounds of Life" to celebrate the 103rd birthday of Musician Do Nhuan.

Musician Do Nhuan was born in 1922 in Hoach Trach village, Thai Hoc commune, Binh Giang district, Hai Duong province (formerly) now Duong An commune, Hai Phong city. During his musical career, he was honored to be awarded the Second Class Independence Medal, the First Ho Chi Minh Prize (1996), the Second Class Soldier Medal, and the Second Class Victory Medal.

As one of the “big trees” of Vietnam’s revolutionary music , Musician Do Nhuan was both a soldier and artist who devoted his whole life to the Fatherland, and the first General Secretary of the Vietnam Musicians Association, who laid an important foundation for the formation and development of Vietnamese Opera.

The art program is an opportunity for today's audience to gain a deeper understanding of a generation of golden artists who have contributed to shaping the face of Vietnamese music for decades, so that the public can enjoy and feel the lasting value of the music he left behind - sounds that have become an indispensable part of the Vietnamese cultural and artistic treasure.

The art program "Do Nhuan - Sounds of Life" includes 3 parts: Part 1 - Aspirational Homeland; Part 2 - Fire-lighting epic and Part 3 - Sound of Motherland.

During the music night, the audience enjoyed the masterpieces that made the name of musician Do Nhuan such as: Winter Coat, Thao River Guerrilla, Dien Bien Liberation, Looking at the Trees, I Miss You Again, My Homeland Vietnam...

Through song and dance performances combined with documentary presentations, the program depicts important creative milestones of Musician Do Nhuan, from works associated with the history of the nation's struggles to songs imbued with lyricism and rich human emotions.

The program is elaborately staged as a musical journey recreating the life and career of Musician Do Nhuan.

The program is performed by famous artists in the field of theater and music such as: Director and conductor Associate Professor, Dr. Musician Do Hong Quan - Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, President of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations; Program manager Major General Musician Duc Trinh.

The program script is performed by: Associate Professor, Dr. Musician Do Hong Quan, Major General Musician Duc Trinh, Dr. Pham Phuong Oanh; Music Director Musician Duc Tan; Choreographer Hai Truong; Stage Designer Phung Nam Thang; Artistic Director People's Artist Khanh Hoa - Director of Hai Phong Contemporary Arts Theater.
