Flight delayed for 5 hours, passengers turn Indian airport into a "dance floor"

(Dan Tri) - The flight from Goa to Surat (India) was delayed for 5 hours, a group of passengers decided to dispel the tense waiting atmosphere by turning the airport into a "dance floor".

According to NDTV , the incident happened on the evening of September 28 at Goa airport. The IndiGo flight was scheduled to depart at 5 p.m. but was delayed for several hours due to a technical problem. Instead of being upset, passengers created joy by performing the traditional Garba dance together at the terminal.

Mayur, a passenger, shared that he wanted to return to Surat in time for the Navratri festival. He confided this wish to the flight attendant and that was what started the “reluctant celebration”.

The flight attendant then prepared the loudspeaker, pulling everyone together in a Garba circle. The video recording this scene quickly went viral on social media.

In the video, passengers clap and spin to the beat of a traditional drum. A man in the middle repeatedly invites more people to join in.

The atmosphere became even more exciting when some airline and airport staff joined in. Many other passengers stood outside the circle, cheering and recording the moment on their phones.

News18 commented that the atmosphere at the airport turned into an impromptu “Garba party”. Mayur also said that the group dance helped everyone forget their fatigue, turning the 5-hour wait into a memorable experience.

However, on social networks, this scene caused many mixed opinions. Some people said that dancing at the airport was inappropriate, because this is a public space where many people have to move because of work, illness or sadness. One account commented: "The airport is not a personal space. Please respect the privacy of others."

On the other hand, many people expressed their delight. One comment read: “This is the spirit of Gujarat - happy, energetic and full of laughter."

Navratri is a nine-day festival honoring the goddess Durga, celebrated across India with music , dance and devotion. Garba, the folk dance of Gujarat, symbolizes the cycle of life and the triumph of good over evil.
