It was from her acting fees that Phuong Trinh Jolie saved up to return to her passion for singing and release her debut album, "One Day of Love." However, behind the spotlight lay a challenging period as she had to face financial pressure and family troubles alone. Her mother fell seriously ill, and Phuong Trinh Jolie had to balance performing, filming, and covering her mother's medical expenses. For three years after winning the Ho Chi Minh City Television Singing Star competition, she went through a difficult time both mentally and financially.
“There were times when I was preparing to perform and received news that my mother was in critical condition, and I had to rush to the hospital in the middle of the night. Sometimes, I would ask the crew for permission to visit my mother while filming,” Phuong Trinh Jolie shared. The greatest loss came in 2009, when her mother passed away, leaving the artist with the pain of not having had the chance to repay her kindness.
After the ordeal, Phuong Trinh Jolie received a year-long contract to participate in the film "Even If the Wind Blows," which she considered a spiritual gift from her mother in heaven, giving her the motivation to stabilize her life and career. From then on, her roles and musical products gradually gained acceptance from the audience, and her career flourished.
Speaking about how to overcome difficulties, Phuong Trinh Jolie believes that an artist's responsibility is to perform well in front of the public. "I might cry backstage, but when I step out to perform, I have to smile and fulfill my role. That's a sign of respect for the audience," she expressed.
Looking back on her journey, the moment Phương Trinh Jolie is most proud of is her performance of "Wild Dance" on drums in the final of the Television Singing Star competition – a performance that earned her the special prize and is still remembered by audiences today. "Many years have passed, but when people recall it, they are still impressed, and that's what makes me happiest in my career," the singer shared.
From a petite girl with gentle first encounters with the spotlight, Phuong Trinh Jolie has gradually established herself through determination, perseverance, and a love for art. Her journey is not only a story of success, but also an inspiration of strength and belief in passion.
