Hai Phong FC (in red jerseys) is currently in the top 7 of the V-League 2025-2026 standings after 21 rounds.
With only five rounds remaining in the V-League 2025-2026 season, Hai Phong FC has unexpectedly made a major change to its coaching staff. Mr. Chu Dinh Nghiem has officially stepped down as head coach of Hai Phong FC to temporarily assume the role of technical director for the club.
The management of the team based at Lạch Tray Stadium has appointed Coach Đặng Văn Thành to replace his senior colleague, leading Hải Phòng Club for the remainder of the season. Mr. Thành, born in 1984, was previously a coach. An outstanding striker from Hai Phong football, he played for top-ranked clubs in Vietnam such as Hai Phong, Ninh Binh , Binh Duong, etc.

At the peak of his career, Dang Van Thanh contributed to Vicem Hai Phong Cement's runner-up finish in the V-League and played for the Vietnamese national team from 2004 to 2007, winning a bronze medal at the Southeast Asian Games.
After retiring from playing in 2016, Mr. Thanh transitioned to coaching, spending a long time working in youth development at the PVF center. Subsequently, Coach Dang Van Thanh joined the coaching staff and served as an assistant coach in the V-League.

Information that Ninh Binh FC is "eyeing" coach Chu Dinh Nghiem emerged from the latter half of the second leg of the 2025-2026 V-League season. Although not yet confirmed by the veteran strategist, the unexpected change in his position within the coaching staff of Hai Phong FC suggests that Nghiem's path to the team from the ancient capital of Hoa Lu is gradually becoming a reality.
Throughout his career, coach Chu Đình Nghiêm has won 3 V-League championships, 2 National Cups, and 3 National Super Cups while leading Hanoi FC. Born in 1972, he is one of Vietnam's most successful and experienced coaches, having taken over the coaching duties of the capital city team from his senior colleague Phan Thanh Hùng.
Upon joining Hai Phong FC, Mr. Nghiem continued to build the team's attractive attacking style, leading them to the runner-up position in the V-League 2022 season. However, in the subsequent period, Hai Phong FC no longer received substantial investment in personnel and lost its status as a contender for the domestic championship.
