The oldest house in Phu Quoc
The old house is nestled in the heart of Phu Quoc City, where the hustle and bustle of modern urban life has almost completely erased any traces of the past.
Preserved through generations, this unique house in Phu Quoc is not only a place to live but also a symbol of the harmonious blend of past and present.

The house has been preserved for six generations.
Although many parts have deteriorated due to the ravages of time, the house still retains its original antique charm, from the yin-yang tiled roof to the wooden frames.

Stepping inside the house reveals a peaceful, tranquil space, emanating the essence of the past. The ancestral altars, the traditional bedrooms with century-old wooden beds, tea tables, and antique horizontal plaques transport visitors back to ancient times.

The tiled roof of the house has remained intact for hundreds of years.
The owner of this house is Mrs. Nguyen Ngoc Tu (54 years old), the 6th generation descendant of the 3rd-ranked village chief of Phu Quoc, Dinh Van Nhieu (1854 - 1927) - the first person to bring Phu Quoc fish sauce to international trade fairs.

Despite all efforts to preserve it, over time the house has lost its structural integrity.
Ms. Tú said that many generations of her family have preserved the house according to the wishes passed down from previous generations.
"Despite all the ups and downs, and despite the ever-improving life and skyrocketing land prices, we have never altered the structure of the house. Our clan unanimously agreed that whoever lives in and looks after this house is not allowed to demolish or rebuild it. Thanks to this, for over a hundred years, we have preserved the house, and it is considered the oldest remaining house on Phu Quoc Island," Mrs. Tu confided.
However, to this day no one remembers the exact age of the house, only that it was built during the time when Mr. Nhieu was the village chief of Phu Quoc before 1900.
