Users accessing social networks like X and the movie review site Letterboxd are seeing inaccessible error messages. The platforms say Cloudflare issues are preventing content from displaying.
Cloudflare is an internet infrastructure cloud. The company provides many core technologies that power a wide range of online services. One of their standout products is a tool to protect websites from cyberattacks and DDoS attacks.
"Cloudflare has detected an issue and is investigating the potential impact on many customers. Details will be provided as more information becomes available," the platform announced.
The Down Detector outage tracking website was also affected by this technical issue. When it was back online, it showed a sudden surge in error reports for online services worldwide.
Affected users saw a message saying "internal server error on Cloudflare network". It asked users to "please try again in a few minutes".
The problems started appearing around 5 PM ( Hanoi time). Fifteen minutes later, the company posted an update saying they were "continuing to investigate this issue" but gave no indication that they knew the cause or how to fix it.
By around 7 PM, most services were gradually restored, and loading speeds returned to normal. In Vietnam, some websites and forums were affected by the aforementioned outage.
Cloudflare provides its internet infrastructure services to companies worldwide . It typically operates in the background, in areas not visible to users. Therefore, a series of seemingly unrelated websites crashed during this outage. The scale of the impact is similar to a comparable technical issue at Amazon Web Services (AWS) last month.
