At the special session of the Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Council, 8th term, 2026-2031, held on the morning of May 14th, with a majority vote in favor, the Provincial People's Council approved a resolution on funding and the division of project components for the Nha Trang - Da Lat expressway project implemented under the public-private partnership (PPP) method.
According to the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province, National Highway 27C is the only road connecting Nha Trang with Da Lat. The Khanh Le Pass, approximately 30km long, is the longest pass in Vietnam, characterized by its winding and treacherous terrain, frequent landslides during the rainy season, and serious traffic accidents.
Investing in the construction of the Nha Trang - Da Lat expressway not only ensures safety for people during the rainy season but also meets the need to connect two key tourist centers of the country, Da Lat and Nha Trang, and fulfills the need for rapid mobility in national defense and security tasks.
The Nha Trang - Da Lat expressway starts at the eastern section of the North-South expressway in Dien Tho commune (Khanh Hoa province) and ends at the Darahoa intersection in Da Lat ward ( Lam Dong province ), with a total length of 80.8 km and 4 lanes.
The project is expected to be implemented during the period 2026 - 2030, with a total investment of approximately 25,058 billion VND.
The Nha Trang - Da Lat expressway, once completed, is expected to shorten travel time between Nha Trang and Da Lat to approximately 1.5 - 2 hours, instead of the current 3.5 - 4 hours.
Dividing the Nha Trang - Da Lat expressway into 3 component projects.
To facilitate the implementation of the project, the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province plans to divide the Nha Trang - Da Lat expressway project, implemented under the public-private partnership method, into three component projects, including:
1. Construct the Nha Trang - Da Lat expressway using the public-private partnership (PPP) method, specifically a build-transfer (BOT) contract.
2. Compensation and land clearance for the section passing through Khanh Hoa province: The Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee is assigned to implement this through a public investment project.
3. Compensation and land clearance for the section passing through Lam Dong province: The Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee is assigned to implement this through a public investment project.
