With a headscarf and a silver necklace around her neck, and adjusting her attire, bride Vi Thi Lieu (born in 1999) performs the rituals before going to the home of groom Hoang Minh Troi (born in 1996, from Cao Bang ) to become his wife.
Instead of choosing a modern white wedding dress, Lieu and her husband decided to wear traditional Tay ethnic costumes for their big day.
The simple, happy wedding photos of a couple from Cao Bang have received many interactions and compliments from netizens.

"I had always planned to wear a traditional Tay ethnic costume instead of a modern wedding dress. When I put on this outfit, I felt very proud," the bride from Cao Bang expressed.
Speaking to a reporter from Dan Tri newspaper , the bride said the wedding will be held at the end of December 2025. Recently, a series of photos capturing moments from the big day were posted on social media by Lieu, attracting widespread attention and sharing from the online community.
Before their wedding, the couple discussed and agreed on the traditional attire of the Tay people to wear on their wedding day. Accordingly, both the bride and groom wore indigo-colored ao dai (traditional Vietnamese long dress) - a familiar garment of the Tay people during festivals, holidays, and community cultural activities.
According to Lieu, the traditional ao dai of Tay women is not elaborate or flashy. The entire outfit is indigo in color, with the highlight being a row of buttons running from the neck down to the armpit, instead of a zipper at the back like the ao dai of the Kinh people.
When worn, women use a sash tied around their waist, combined with a headscarf, silver necklace, and a chain of beads at the waist as decorative accessories. Meanwhile, men's long robes are similar in color but without a belt; the body of the robe hangs loosely, emphasizing a healthy and simple appearance.
According to Tay customs, on the engagement day, the groom's family brings gifts to the bride's family, placed in bamboo baskets, including: sticky rice cakes (bánh chưng and bánh dày), glutinous rice, wine, etc. In addition, there is a tray of fruit and sticky rice with chicken covered in red paper, prepared by the groom's relatives.
On their big day, both families invited relatives, friends, and neighbors to celebrate for two days. During the wedding procession, the young couple performed a ritual to inform their ancestors. Before the bride, Vi Thi Lieu, left the house, the groom gently bent down to put on her new sandals – a simple act but one that embodies respect, love, and responsibility for their future married life.

"According to Tay customs, the bride prepares extra blankets, pillows, and face towels to bring to her husband's home... for the formalities of being accepted into the family," she said.
The wedding of Vi Thi Lieu and her husband took place in a warm atmosphere, filled with blessings from relatives and neighbors.
The two families live nearly 200km apart, so the bride, groom, and guests had to travel for over four hours by car, which was quite tiring. What made the young couple happiest was that they were able to preserve the traditional Tày ethnic culture , cuisine , and clothing on their big day.
Besides her impressive wedding dress, Vi Thi Lieu's beautiful face also attracted attention from the online community.
Vi Thi Lieu and her husband met during Tet in 2025. At that time, Lieu's brother knew Hoang Minh Troi and invited him to a pig-slaughtering party to celebrate Tet with the family.
Their first meeting was quite brief, and the girl from Cao Bang didn't have much of an impression of Minh Troi. A few months later, the young man took the initiative to text her. Initially, Lieu replied to the messages in a reserved manner, without much enthusiasm.

The more they talked, the better they understood each other. Over time, Lieu sensed maturity in the other person's thinking and a feeling of "security."
"After nearly a year of dating, we decided to get married. This is a time when both of us have thought things through carefully and want to build a family," the girl from Cao Bang shared.
Currently, the couple is enjoying the happy days of being newlyweds. She runs a home-based business, while her husband works in an office.
The bride said that the couple has many plans for the future but are not yet ready to reveal them. What they both hope for most is a strong, happy, and fulfilling marriage, overcoming all difficulties together to stay together until they grow old.
