What was the opportunity for you to bring the international professional powerboat racing event to organize in Binh Dinh, Vietnam? - Actually, this was also an opportunity. Before that, I was not very interested in water sports . With this new sport, at first, the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province invited us to sponsor the organizing unit, but the more we learned, the more we felt that this was a sport with many challenges, passion and novelty. Gradually, I was attracted and I also determined that this was an opportunity, and that I would stick with our development path for a long time. During the negotiation process with the copyright holder of the program, what difficulties and advantages did you encounter? How did the partner evaluate the Vietnamese market? - During the negotiation process with the copyright holder of the tournament, H2O Racing, there were many advantages and not a few difficulties in bringing the tournament to Vietnam. First, Vietnam is a country that loves sports with 100 million people, secondly, geographically, our country has many long and beautiful coastlines famous in the world such as: Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, Phan Thiet... Thirdly, they want to develop this sport to new countries, including Vietnam. As for difficulties, the initial partner was worried that Binh Dinh province's facilities would not meet the demand. However, in fact, we have had initial success when hosting the Grand Prix of Binh Dinh in Thi Nai Bay (Quy Nhon City) at the end of March. With such a new sport, are you confident that you will organize a profitable event and attract many spectators? - In terms of economic value, in the first years of organization, there will certainly be no profit. But the value brought will be to promote the image of people and culture of Binh Dinh province in particular and the country in general to international friends. As well as bringing a new sport to the Vietnamese public. These are things that cannot be calculated by profit or money. As a citizen, a businessman, I think that I and the company's board of directors have a mission of sustainable development with the community, which is the resonance from sports - tourism - cultural values. In addition to the professional powerboat race, Binh Dinh also has many attractive sideline programs. What do you expect from this series of events, the expected number of visitors to this event? - We hope to welcome about 40-50,000 domestic tourists and 10,000 international tourists to Binh Dinh through this tournament and the Amazing Binh Dinh Fest week event. Particularly for the F1H2O tournament, we hope to welcome about 10,000 visitors to visit and watch. There are currently 435 accommodation establishments in the province with a total of 13,645 rooms, including 1 5-star hotel, 12 4-star hotels, 15 3-star hotels, 79 1-2 star hotels and 328 standard accommodation establishments. Up to this point, over 60% of the expected number of tourists coming to attend the Amazing Binh Dinh Fest and watch the tournament has been achieved. Currently, the two athletes representing Vietnam in the professional powerboat racing tournament are foreigners. Do you have any plans to build a team of Vietnamese athletes wearing the national flag? - With this new sport, we do not have enough conditions to participate, because no athlete has been granted an international certificate and has no experience in repairing Formula 1 powerboat machinery. Therefore, the racing team sponsor (Fleur de Lys Company) has to use almost all foreign personnel. From the second year onwards, Vietnam is expected to have a domestic Training Institute with the support of the International Powerboat Federation, so that together with F1H2O Racing in Italy, Vietnamese athletes will be granted certificates to participate in racing. We have discussed with our partners that from next year, the racing team athletes can be Vietnamese. After the powerboat racing season ends in March, how will you and Binh Dinh F1 Company nurture the passion of the audience for this sport? - We are working hard to establish the Underwater Powerboat Racing Federation in the first quarter of this year. After receiving approval from the Vietnamese governing bodies, we will organize a Congress and have an action plan. Vietnam can completely develop a team of young athletes, can participate in the upcoming Olympics, and at the same time organize professional races to find young talents. Thank you!Laodong.vn
