Famous worldwide for the glorious Dien Bien Phu victory, Dien Bien today has a peaceful beauty in the mountains and forests of the Northwest. This is also the home of 19 ethnic groups: Mong, Thai, Dao, Ha Nhi, Lao... Thanks to that, Dien Bien is a land rich in experiences for tourists to explore.
Speaking at a press conference on February 21, Mr. Vu A Bang - Vice Chairman of Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee - said that the locality is the only province in the Northwest region with flights connecting to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, which is an advantage for Dien Bien to develop tourism.
"During the Dien Bien Culture and Tourism Week at Nguyen Hue Walking Street, Ho Chi Minh City, we saw that people in the Southeast and Ho Chi Minh City are very interested in exploring Dien Bien culture and tourism. This is an opportunity for Dien Bien to build better policies and stimulate demand so that more tourists come to Dien Bien," Mr. Bang shared.
The highlight of Dien Bien National Tourism Year 2024 is the opening ceremony, associated with the 2024 Ban Flower Festival, with the theme "Returning to the Ban Flower Land" held on March 16 at 7-5 Square, Dien Bien Phu city.
During this time, visitors will be able to admire the white Ban flowers blooming in the mountains and forests, explore the unique culture of the ethnic groups in Dien Bien, participate in the Thai Xoe art festival and the Mong panpipe art festival...

In 2023, Dien Bien set a target of welcoming 900,000 visitors, but the province welcomed nearly 1.1 million visitors. In 2024, the province aims to welcome 1.3 million visitors, raising total tourism revenue to VND2,200 billion.
In addition, in May, many activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory were held such as: special art exchange program and high-altitude fireworks display, the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory.
In August, tourists and travel businesses are connected at the Northwest - Dien Bien tourism fair, the National Food Festival and many festival activities.
Not only that, when coming to Dien Bien during the National Tourism Year, tourists can also immerse themselves in the lives of local people, visit Muong Thanh fields, Tua Chua stone plateau, conquer Pha Din pass and visit the landmark at the A Pa Chai border junction...
There are currently three flights to Dien Bien every day, including two flights from Hanoi to Dien Bien and one flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Dien Bien. From Hanoi, visitors can also choose to travel to Dien Bien by bus or private car.
Dien Bien province is a border area, located in the Northwest of Vietnam, with a natural area of 9,562.9 km2 , a border of 455.572 km long, adjacent to China and Laos.
Dien Bien province currently has 33 ranked historical relics, including 1 special national historical relic of Dien Bien Phu Battlefield, 14 national relics, 18 provincial relics; 18 national intangible cultural heritages, of which the art of Thai xoe and Then practice of the Tay, Nung, and Thai people are recognized by UNESCO as representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
