This morning (June 29), more than 1 million candidates nationwide continued to take the high school graduation exam in the natural science (physics, chemistry, biology) or social science (history, geography, civics) combinationexam .
At the Hong Bang Secondary School (District 5, Ho Chi Minh City) exam site, many candidates, after saying goodbye to their parents, gathered around the teachers waiting at the school gate to take roll call and listen to instructions before entering the exam room.
Ms. Thien An takes attendance and gives instructions to students before entering the exam room.
At 7 o'clock, when all her colleagues had left, Ms. Thien An still decided to stay behind to support her students. The female teacher also continuously looked at the list covered with handwriting and called each student who had not yet arrived at the exam site with a worried expression.
At exactly 7:35, when the roll call list was "filled" and the bell rang signaling the time for homework, Ms. An shared with us her work with relief. Accordingly, Ms. An said that she had 11 years of experience teaching math, and started doing this job in 2019, since she transferred to Thang Long High School.
The "gatekeeper" job has been done by Ms. Thien An since 2019.
"I will stand guard at the gate to take attendance, and if any student has any problems, I will contact their parents or other teachers to provide timely support. Besides, I will also wait to see if any student has not arrived yet, then contact them and their families to find a way to help them arrive on time for the exam," the female teacher shared.
Ms. An also said that this work comes from the voluntary spirit of the teachers in charge of grade 12, the teachers themselves assigned to each other to manage the students, not because the school forced them. At the Hong Bang Secondary School exam site, Ms. An and 2 other teachers are in charge of supporting the students. The other teachers are on duty at the Chu Van An Continuing Education Center exam site (District 5).
Female teacher continuously calls and takes attendance of students
Accompanying Ms. Thien An are other teachers from Thang Long High School.
"I chose this job because I want to be responsible for the students, as well as to ensure that they can enter the exam room smoothly, in case something happens and they don't know who to contact. Being able to personally take the students in makes me much happier and more secure," Ms. An confided.
The female teacher said that her students were quite confident with their work after the two exams in literature and math the day before, and not many of them had any regrets. "Today, you have to take part in 4 exams, which is twice as stressful. I hope all students nationwide will be confident and steadfast in passing the final exam of their student life well and smoothly," Ms. An said.
