At the meeting and awarding of Certificates of Merit to 80 outstanding teachers of the Ministry of Education and Training within the framework of the program "Sharing with teachers" yesterday afternoon, November 13, teachers discussed and shared the difficulties in the teaching process, as well as the motivation that helps them dedicate themselves to their profession.

Ms. Vang Thi Dinh - teacher of Dong Van Secondary and High School for Ethnic Minorities ( Tuyen Quang ) talked about the journey of bringing STEM to the highlands. Students in the highlands are very passionate about learning, every time they do experiments or program, their eyes light up with curiosity and excitement. However, the lack of facilities and old equipment makes STEM teaching face many limitations.

Ms. Dinh's wish is for the Ministry of Education and Training to pay attention, invest in laboratories and train STEM teachers, so that students in mountainous areas can not only study, but also open their minds, master technology and artificial intelligence.

The story of Ms. Giang Thi Tuyen - a teacher at Phu Lung Primary School ( Ha Giang ) made the whole auditorium silent. For twenty years working in the border area, every morning, Ms. Tuyen and her colleagues "walked" dozens of kilometers to school, then stayed in a temporary house in the middle of the mountain mist.

Many days when it hailed and the road was slippery, Ms. Tuyen and her students had to cling to the cliffs to walk. One student fell and tore his knee but still smiled, afraid of missing a class.

"100% of my students are ethnic minorities. Their lives are difficult, their parents work far away, so many children only have cold rice, a bowl of men men and a little soup for lunch. Witnessing this scene, I understand more deeply that the teaching profession is not only about teaching, but also about keeping the children's faith and dream of going to school," Ms. Tuyen said tearfully.

Teaching in the middle of the majestic wilderness, in the bone-chilling cold of winter, the driving force that keeps them persevering on the path of spreading knowledge is the innocent eyes of their students, and their tiny hands carefully writing new letters.

To overcome the difficulties at Tuyen Quang school, Ms. Nguyen Thi Men - teacher of Bat Dai Son Kindergarten (Can Ty commune) and her students used dry straw, corn husks, and pebbles to make learning tools, replacing modern machinery.

Despite the hardship, Ms. Men did not give up. To make it easier for her students to absorb, she combined teaching Vietnamese with illustrations, real objects and familiar gestures, and at the same time built a “language-rich learning environment”: Each play corner; each picture; each object has a Vietnamese name with an illustration.

Outside of regular school hours, she trains students in independence, personal organization, polite communication skills, and knowing how to say thank you and apologize at the right time.

"Choosing to go to the border area is the happiness of those who sow knowledge at the source of the Fatherland. If I could choose again, I would still choose teaching. I hope that you - the children of the Bat Dai Son mountains and forests - will not only know how to read and write, but also know how to speak politely, listen, love and share. I hope that you will grow up confidently and be proud of your homeland," Ms. Men was moved.

Deputy Minister of Education and Training Le Minh Quan listened to the thoughts and aspirations of teachers from remote, isolated and border areas - those who are struggling to overcome hardships to preserve their knowledge. Along with investment in facilities, issues related to teaching staff, operating costs and boarding and semi-boarding policies for students in disadvantaged areas are being studied synchronously.

"In the long term, the boarding school system in border areas will play an important role in implementing the new general education program, developing quality human resources, providing career orientation, discovering and nurturing talents, and creating a source of cadres for the locality," Deputy Minister Le Quan emphasized.

On this occasion, the Deputy Minister of Education and Training awarded Certificates of Merit to 80 outstanding teachers for their outstanding contributions to the cause of education and nurturing the young generation.

The ceremony to honor teachers participating in the program "Sharing with teachers" in 2025 took place at the Vietnam Youth Academy (No. 3, Chua Lang Ward, Hanoi) on the evening of November 14. After 10 years of implementation, the program has honored 576 outstanding teachers from all over the country. These are teachers who are "staying in the village" day and night to teach in remote, isolated, border areas with especially difficult socio-economic conditions; teachers who are teaching in remote island districts and communes.
