On July 18, at Hanoi Medical University, the project "AI Opportunities for Healthcare Workers" was launched and inaugurated, starting the journey of bringing artificial intelligence (AI) to 15,000 healthcare workers nationwide. The project aims to enhance digital capacity and promote digital transformation in the healthcare sector.
The program is implemented by the Vietnam Healthy Journey Joint Stock Company (VietHealth), under the direction of the Department of Science, Technology and Training - Ministry of Health . Accompanying the project are the Vietnam Association for Research and Application of Biomedical Technology (VAMBRA) and many medical and pharmaceutical universities across the country.

Ms. Luong Mai Anh - Deputy Director of Department of Science, Technology and Training, Ministry of Health.
Ms. Luong Mai Anh, Deputy Director of the Department of Science, Technology and Training, emphasized: "AI is an inevitable trend in the 4.0 industrial revolution. This is not only a tool to improve productivity and work quality, but also supports administrative reform and modernization of the public health system."
The project aims to help healthcare workers apply AI to their daily work, especially in time-consuming administrative tasks such as reporting, statistics, and document research. Previously, each healthcare worker had to spend 2-3 hours to complete administrative procedures, but with AI, this time can be shortened to about 30 minutes.
"AI does not replace humans in professional work and clinical thinking. But with repetitive tasks, technology will help reduce the load significantly," said a representative of VietHealth.
The course is built on three pillars:
Mindset: Forming the right awareness of AI, identifying benefits, risks and knowing how to behave appropriately with technology.
Skillset: Equip yourself with the ability to evaluate, analyze data and use AI effectively, avoiding being "led by the nose" by misinformation.
Toolset: Instructions on how to use popular platforms such as ChatGPT, Google Gemini... suitable for each specific role: Doctors look up medical information, pharmacists find drug information, nurses support patient care, administrative staff create reports.
The organizers emphasized that the goal of the course is not to train AI experts but to help medical staff "use AI correctly, sufficiently and usefully" in practical work.
With a scale of up to 15,000 students nationwide, the program is expected to help the Vietnamese healthcare industry catch up with the AI application trend like other countries in the region, especially in the context of digital transformation taking place strongly in Southeast Asia.
