Over the years, the implementation of Resolution No. 54 of the Politburo on building and developing Hue city until 2030, with a vision to 2045, has brought about many positive changes. Hue is gradually affirming its role as a center of culture, tourism, specialized healthcare, and high-quality education in the Central region and the whole country.

Urban spaces are expanding, socio -economic infrastructure is becoming increasingly synchronized, while traditional cultural values continue to be preserved and promoted, creating a unique identity for the ancient capital region.

Many experts, officials, and local people believe that Hue City is facing new opportunities for breakthrough development, further affirming its position as a distinctive heritage city of Vietnam in the context of the country entering a new stage of development.

Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Manh, former lecturer at Hue University of Science, believes that the challenge of developing Hue in the context of integration and modernization requires a long-term vision and an approach based on regional and global standards.

Integrating heritage into the development of smart, modern cities needs to be done scientifically, clearly defining conservation zones and development zones. Each area should have its own strategy, ensuring the preservation of historical and cultural values while creating room for growth and innovation.

Hue City covers an area of nearly 5,000 km², with a population of over 1.2 million people and 40 administrative units at the commune and ward level. To date, Hue City has 203 classified historical sites and complexes, including 3 special national-level historical sites, 96 national-level historical sites, and 104 city-level historical sites. This is an invaluable cultural asset, creating a unique identity for Hue within the flow of national culture.

In recent years, Hue has paid special attention to the preservation and promotion of typical heritage values such as the Hue Imperial Citadel Complex and Hue Royal Court Music; accelerating digital transformation in the field of heritage, digitizing ancient artifacts and historical documents; building and strengthening the brand of "Festival City," aiming towards the goal of "Green City."

These guidelines provide an important foundation for Hue to continue developing harmoniously between conservation and development, preserving the cultural identity and distinctive living spaces of the ancient capital region in the process of integration and sustainable development.

Hue City is gradually transforming its heritage into a development advantage, forming distinctive brands such as "Vietnam's Characteristic Festival City" and "ASEAN Cultural City," contributing to enhancing Hue's image on the international tourism and cultural map.

Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Hue City, Phan Thanh Hai, emphasized: Hue is steadfast in its commitment to sustainable development, taking culture as the foundation, heritage as an advantage, and people as the center. The current focus is on effectively exploiting heritage values to develop high-quality tourism and services.

This requires a synchronized investment in cultural institutions, tourism infrastructure, and services, along with a vision and planning capacity to both preserve cultural values intact and create conditions for economic development.

Mr. Vo Ngoc Thanh (36 years old, residing in Thuan An ward) said that the urban landscape of Hue City has undergone many noticeable changes recently. These include the beautification of the landscape along both banks of the Perfume River; and key transportation projects that promote connectivity between the inner city and coastal areas and lagoons…

Hue's efforts to attract investment projects are on the right track, selecting projects that align with the overall master plan, are linked to heritage preservation, and maintain the landscape and cultural identity of the ancient capital.

Along with strategic directions, officials, Party members, and the people of Hue City expect that the 14th National Congress of the Party will continue to emphasize the work of Party building and rectification, and the building of a team of cadres with sufficient virtue and talent, commensurate with the tasks.

This is considered a key factor in realizing the country's socio-economic development goals, while also guiding Hue's development in the right direction, transforming it into a heritage, cultural, ecological, and environmentally friendly city.
