According to a VNA reporter in Indonesia, on November 13, within the framework of the SIAL Interfood 2025 International Food and Beverage Exhibition taking place in Jakarta, the Vietnam - Indonesia Business Connection Forum was held, opening up cooperation opportunities between the business communities of the two countries, especially in the field of food, beverages and the potential Halal market.

Speaking at the forum, Deputy Director of the Investment and Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) of Ho Chi Minh City, Ho Thi Quyen and Trade Counselor of Vietnam in Indonesia Pham The Cuong both commented that with nearly 300 million people, most of whom are Muslim, Indonesia is a wide open market for Vietnamese agricultural products, processed foods and Halal products. Direct connection activities will help Vietnamese businesses have more opportunities to expand their markets, promote their products and access the distribution system in Indonesia.

Meanwhile, Ms. Damayan Siahaan, representative of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), said that although Vietnam and Indonesia have similarities in products and resources, this is not a barrier but can become a foundation for complementary cooperation. She said that if the two countries strengthen their links and jointly export to third markets, the bilateral trade turnover, which currently stands at about 16 billion USD, will continue to increase strongly in the coming time.

From a regional perspective, the new Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam, Adam Tugio, assessed that with a population of nearly 700 million people, ASEAN is a huge market that Indonesia and Vietnam can develop together. He said that Vietnamese enterprises can take advantage of Indonesia as a strategic hub to expand into the region, while Indonesian enterprises can come to Vietnam to learn production processes and cooperate in investment, thereby opening up many new opportunities for bilateral economic relations.

At the forum, businesses from both countries directly exchanged, introduced products and sought distribution partners. Many Vietnamese products such as instant pho, coffee, chocolate, high-tech dried fruits, etc. attracted the attention of Indonesian partners, opening up prospects for more direct and sustainable cooperation in the future.
