Previously, when the market opened, investors traded quite cautiously. They proactively sold stocks in their portfolios to preserve assets when the indices were moving at a price range considered quite risky. The amount of bottom-fishing stocks 2 days ago that made good profits also encouraged short-term profit-taking activities.
As a result, VN-Index increased slightly by nearly 2 points at the beginning of the session, then reversed downwards until the end of the morning session when it decreased by 6.03 points, equivalent to -0.49%. Market breadth was heavily tilted towards the downside with 188 gainers/294 losers.
Stocks were "dumped" heavily on the afternoon of September 21.
Selling pressure mounted in the afternoon session as the amount of stocks that "bottomed out" 2 days ago returned to investor accounts, combined with pressure from the derivatives expiration session, causing the market to be flooded with red. Steel and seafood stocks increased but were not strong enough to support other industries.
The entire market fell sharply after 1:30 p.m., starting with the securities group, strong selling pressure spread to other sectors, real estate, banking, textiles, etc. all fell in price. Sectors that were actively increasing in price also narrowed their amplitude, even reversing and going down.
By the end of the session, the HoSE recorded 370 stocks decreasing in price, of which about 1/3 of the stocks decreased sharply from 3-7%; on the contrary, 150 stocks increased. The VN-Index lost 13.37 points (1.09%) to 1,212 points.
Total liquidity on the floor reached 963 million shares, worth VND23,019 billion, up more than 9% compared to the previous session; of which foreign investors net sold VND394 billion, focusing on HPG, KDH, VIC, GEX, PVT...
Many stocks in the securities industry fell sharply, such as BSI, which dropped to the floor by 7%, VCI lost 5.62%, CTS and FTS both fell more than 5% with trading volume among the highest in the market.
In particular, the leading codes of the group all had strong sell-offs such as: SSI decreased 4.66% liquidity 1,746 billion VND, highest in the market; VND decreased 4.16% liquidity 896.7 billion VND; VIX decreased 3.54% transaction 606.8 billion ranked 5th; HCM decreased 3.12% with 354.9 billion VND...
