According to Major Tran Trung Hieu, the most recent cyber attack was recorded in May 2025, hackers penetrated through a system vulnerability. Therefore, when discovered, A05 requested the agency to immediately isolate to avoid hackers changing the content when they had control of the system.
When A05 requested that this press agency be isolated to handle the system, the agency's leaders reported difficulties when reporters had to come to the editorial office to enter news articles into the system, instead of logging in and sending news articles remotely as before. "Through the system review, this press agency has no plan to ensure network security, no plan to handle when attacked by hackers. In fact, many organization leaders do not fully understand the consequences of a network security incident...", Major Tran Trung Hieu shared.

According to statistics from the National Cyber Security Center, in April 2025, A05 discovered that 3 major press agencies in Vietnam were attacked by cyberattacks. Hackers attacked the data system and stole documents from these press agencies. When they attack the system, hackers can steal data, change the content of articles or delete news articles, and post bad and toxic content on the newspaper... If hackers do this, it will cause extremely serious consequences.

A05 representatives also recommended that press agencies should pay attention to the issue of protecting network security against hacker attacks.
At the recent conference on journalism with artificial intelligence technology at the Academy of Journalism and Communication, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Loi, Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association , Editor-in-Chief of the Economic and Urban Newspaper, also said that among the four major challenges facing the press in Vietnam, there is the risk of large-scale cyber attacks.
