The second facility of Bach Mai Hospital and Viet Duc Hospital will partially come into operation on December 19.

According to Deputy Minister of Health Le Duc Luan, in order to inaugurate and put a part into use on February 19, contractors are rushing to complete some remaining work on the second facility of the two hospitals. Up to now, medical equipment such as: testing systems, CT scanners, MRI, X-ray, ultrasound knives, hospital beds, etc. have been installed and tested.

It is expected that by December 18, the installation of other modern medical equipment will be completed and put into partial use on December 19. The two hospitals have developed a detailed plan, prepared sufficient human resources, and have a plan to transfer equipment between the two facilities to be ready to receive and operate the hospital as soon as it is handed over.

Deputy Minister of Health Le Duc Luan chaired the meeting.

According to Mr. Dao Xuan Co, Director of Bach Mai Hospital, the hospital has planned to assign more than 600 staff from facility 1 to facility 2 with full specialties and in the first phase there will be 325 inpatient beds. At the same time, the hospital also has many preferential policies for staff working at facility 2 of Bach Mai Hospital, such as: salary increase, bonus, priority appointment.

Bach Mai Hospital's Facility 2 has basically completed construction and equipment installation.

At the end of 2014, the construction of the second facility of Bach Mai Hospital and Viet Duc Hospital began, with a scale of 1,000 beds/hospital and a total investment of about 5,000 billion VND/hospital. However, due to many difficulties in policy mechanisms, both projects have been delayed for many years.
