Speaking before the match, coach Alexandre Polking emphasized the difference between the AFC Champions League Two and the Southeast Asian regional competition. Therefore, Hanoi Police entered the match aiming for a home victory to gain an advantage before the second leg.
"Tampines Rovers will certainly make many changes. They will analyze Hanoi Police FC to find the best result. We will do the same, and will do everything we can to capitalize on the strengths that the team has shown recently," coach Alexandre Polking shared.
The head coach of Hanoi Police also emphasized the importance of maintaining a ball-control style of play and capitalizing on strengths to gain an advantage before the away match in Singapore on February 18th.
From a player's perspective, defender Doan Van Hau affirmed the team's determination to win: "As a player, the goal when stepping onto the field is always to win. The whole team will do their best to gain an advantage at home before going to the away game." Regarding his injury, he shared that it was a muscle injury, which has fully recovered, and he is ready to play in tomorrow's match.
On the other side of the pitch, Tampines Rovers' representative, coach Noh Rahman, emphasized that the team's goal is to secure a favorable result in the second leg in Singapore.
"The whole team has discussed things very thoroughly to aim for a favorable result. Our goal is to reach the quarter-finals, so Tampines Rovers will put in maximum effort right from the first leg," coach Noh Rahman shared.
The visiting team's head coach also acknowledged the defeat in the previous match, but argued that the result did not accurately reflect the team's true strength. He stated that the entire team had learned from the experience, made certain adjustments, and were ready for the match in the AFC Champions League Two – a competition with a completely different nature.
For his part, center-back Dylan Fox said that the Tampines Rovers players had regrouped after the heavy defeat: "As the manager said, we are well-prepared and in good form to aim for a favorable result before returning to Singapore."
At the same time, the central defender shared more about their opponent, Hanoi Police: "The players of Hanoi Police are all very strong and dangerous, so we have to analyze and prepare to be in the best possible form for tomorrow's match."
The first leg of the AFC Champions League Two 2025-2026 Round of 16 match between Hanoi Police and Tampines Rovers will take place at 7:30 PM on February 11th at Hang Day Stadium (Hanoi).
