Bringing thousands of workers and laborers home for Tet

The charity buses of the program "Charity tickets - Tet reunion" from Ho Chi Minh City will take workers back to their hometowns in the Central and Northern provinces to celebrate Tet.

Ho Chi Minh City was allocated 300 plane tickets and 1,200 train tickets from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor . The city's program also gave away 500 more plane tickets, 2,000 train tickets and about 3,500 one-way bus tickets to workers in difficulty who have not returned home for many years.

Of which, bus tickets are allocated for Ho Chi Minh City area (old) 2,000 tickets, Binh Duong province area (old) 1,000 tickets and Ba Ria - Vung Tau province area (old) 500 tickets.

For workers and laborers celebrating Tet in Ho Chi Minh City, the series of events "Tet Sum Vay" associated with the Trade Union Tet Market - Spring 2026 is expected to attract tens of thousands of workers in industrial parks, export processing zones and areas with a high concentration of workers.

Along with shopping at preferential prices, there are also many zero-dong booths, legal and health consulting activities, entertainment, arts, sports , free medicine, free oil changes, etc. to help workers reduce costs and prepare for a more thoughtful Tet.

A large-scale program is expected to be held in Thu Thiem ward by the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation in collaboration with local working groups to set up a Tet market and entertainment space to serve thousands of workers.

In parallel, the year-end union dinner continues to be maintained at grassroots unions for workers and business owners to sit together at the end of the year. Meals are supported by union and business funds to create cohesion and gratitude to workers at the end of the year.

For workers who cannot return to their hometowns, the union organizes "Tet not far from home" with joyful spring activities to help workers far from home have a full Tet.

Dormitories with a large number of workers are encouraged to upgrade sanitation, fire prevention, and support room discounts during Tet.

Focus on taking care of Tet for workers and laborers

The 2026 Tet care plan prioritizes people with work-related accidents, occupational diseases, and serious illnesses; people who have lost their jobs, had their working hours reduced, or have unpaid wages and bonuses; workers from policy families, ethnic minorities, and those who have not had the opportunity to return to their hometowns for many years; workers working through Tet and workers at key projects.

The city supports up to 1 million VND/person for union members, union officials, relatives of martyrs and heroic Vietnamese mothers.

Employees at enterprises without a union organization and paying union fees will receive a maximum of 500,000 VND/person. Those in particularly difficult circumstances (work-related accidents, serious illnesses) will receive a maximum of 2 million VND/person.

For grassroots unions, the level of care depends on the financial capacity of the unit and the cooperation of businesses, local authorities and socialized resources.

The Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation said it will balance regular revenue and expenditure, accumulated financial resources and support from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. At the same time, it will step up mobilizing businesses and philanthropists to join hands in support.

It is expected that the total number of people to be cared for is about 350,000 people, equivalent to 15% of the union members directly managing them.

Supervise salary and bonus payments

Along with giving gifts, bus tickets and organizing events, trade unions at all levels will strengthen dialogue with businesses on wages and Tet bonuses; monitor the payment of wages and bonuses and working conditions; promptly detect businesses that owe wages and insurance, and are at risk of disputes, in order to coordinate in resolving them.

Working groups must also regularly grasp workers' thoughts and forecast the risk of collective work stoppages to ensure stable labor relations before, during and after Tet.
