Announcement of the decision to appoint Mr. Bui The Duy as Vice President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.

(Chinhphu.vn) - On the afternoon of January 14th, the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology held a ceremony to announce the Prime Minister's decision on the transfer and appointment of Mr. Bui The Duy, alternate member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, to the position of Vice President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.

Previously, on January 11th, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed Decision No. 72/QD-TTg transferring and appointing Mr. Bui The Duy to the position of Vice President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology. The appointment is for a term of 5 years, and the Decision takes effect from the date of signing.

Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the Party Committee and the Leadership Board of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, Professor Chau Van Minh , President of the Academy, congratulated Comrade Bui The Duy on being entrusted with this new important responsibility by the Prime Minister .

The President of the Academy stated that Comrade Bui The Duy is a familiar face to the Academy through collaborative work during his time holding leadership positions at the Ministry of Science and Technology.

With a solid educational background, graduating with a degree in Computer Science from Australia, defending his doctoral thesis in the Netherlands, and being appointed Associate Professor at a very young age, Comrade Bui The Duy is one of the scientists and administrators who have matured through practical teaching, research, and management experience.

During his career, he has held many important positions such as Head of the Faculty of Information Technology (University of Technology - Vietnam National University, Hanoi), Director of the Vietnam Youth Academy, Chief of Office and Deputy Minister of Science and Technology from 2018 to the present.

With that wealth of experience, Professor Chau Van Minh expressed his confidence that Comrade Bui The Duy, together with the Academy's leadership team, will focus on directing and successfully implementing important tasks, especially the development strategy of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology until 2030, with a vision to 2045 , as well as other major tasks assigned by the Politburo and the Government.

On this occasion, the Academy's leadership expressed gratitude to the generations of leaders of the Ministry of Science and Technology for their continuous support and close cooperation with the Academy. The appointment of two former leaders of the Ministry to the Academy is expected to create a strong bridge, contributing to enhanced coordination between the two pillars of the national science and technology ecosystem.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung assessed Comrade Bui The Duy as a well-trained official with deep expertise, who has left many important marks in advising and directing the implementation of major tasks of the sector, most recently Resolution No. 57 on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation .

The assignment of Comrade Bui The Duy to work at the Academy of Sciences demonstrates the special attention of the Party and the State in the context where science and technology are for the first time placed before a historical responsibility: Science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation must become the central driving force, contributing at least 50% to GDP growth.

Minister Nguyen Manh Hung emphasized that the Ministry of Science and Technology, in its role as a state management agency, and the Academy of Sciences, in its role as a research hub, need to be a unified entity. Mr. Bui The Duy, with nearly eight years of experience as Deputy Minister, will be in a position to translate policies into practice and, conversely, integrate research practices into the policy-making process in a flexible and timely manner.

In his acceptance speech, the newly appointed Vice President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, Bui The Duy, expressed his emotion and honor at being appointed to this important position by the Prime Minister. He stated that this is a valuable opportunity to apply his accumulated experience in state management to the direct management of scientific research units.

He affirmed that he would work with the leadership and staff of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology to effectively implement the Academy's development strategy in the coming period, gradually transforming the Academy into a prestigious research center in the region and the world; and at the same time, boldly apply and experiment with innovative mechanisms and policies in science and technology to create real breakthroughs.
