The Ministry of Construction has just announced an emergency situation for the railway infrastructure on the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City route, due to heavy damage from heavy rain and floods in the South Central region.

Serious infrastructure damage occurred at Km1123+600 to Km1139+100, Km1204+200 to Km1219+742, Km1337+900 to Km1339+850 in the section passing through Gia Lai, Dak Lak , Khanh Hoa and Lam Dong provinces. There is a direct threat to train safety and the lives of people and vehicles participating in railway traffic.

The Ministry of Construction requested the Vietnam Railway Authority to urgently review and repair the damage, and propose solutions and funding sources for repairs. Previously, heavy rain and floods disrupted railway traffic from November 17 to November 25, causing congestion and damage to infrastructure from Dieu Tri to Nha Trang. More than 100 passenger trains and 65 freight trains were stopped, causing an estimated loss of VND50 billion.
