On the occasion of the 94th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam , on the evening of February 1 at the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Labor Cultural Palace (Hanoi), the Central Organizing Committee chaired and coordinated with Nhan Dan Newspaper, Communist Magazine, Vietnam Television, and the Vietnam Journalists Association to organize the announcement and award ceremony of the 8th National Press Award on Party Building (named Golden Hammer and Sickle) - 2023.

The ceremony was attended by former General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nong Duc Manh; Politburo members: Pham Minh Chinh, Prime Minister; Truong Thi Mai, Standing member of the Secretariat, Head of the Central Organizing Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for the 8th National Press Award on Party Building - 2023; Phan Dinh Trac, Secretary of the Central Party Committee, Head of the Central Internal Affairs Committee; Nguyen Hoa Binh , Secretary of the Central Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Personnel Committee, Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court; Nguyen Xuan Thang, Secretary of the Central Party Committee, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council; Secretaries of the Central Party Committee, members of the Central Party Committee; former Politburo members, former Secretaries of the Central Party Committee; leaders of central departments, ministries, branches and agencies; leaders of provinces and cities in the country; leaders of press agencies and award-winning authors and groups of authors.

The 8th National Press Award on Party Building - 2023 has 2,216 works, an increase of 184 works compared to 2022. Of which, there are 755 printed newspaper works, 549 electronic newspaper works, 530 television works, 280 radio works and 102 press photo works. The works are rich in themes and genres and cover all provinces and cities in the country. Most of the works have closely followed hot issues, outstanding events, and key tasks of the political system and the country. Many works have deeply reflected current issues, attracting the attention of the whole society such as the work of Party building and rectification; the work of protecting the Party's ideological foundation, fighting and refuting the distorted arguments of hostile forces; fight against corruption and negativity... Some works also mention current pressing issues, with high social criticism and combativeness.
The new feature in the content of the press works participating in the 8th Golden Hammer and Sickle Award - 2023 is that they vividly and promptly reflect the events and political activities of the Party such as the launch of books by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the Mid-term Conference (6th Central Conference) and the resolutions of the Central Executive Committee and the Politburo (13th tenure) focusing on leadership and direction in building culture and ethics in the Party, planning the contingent of strategic-level cadres; fighting against the "disease of fear of responsibility" and building a mechanism to protect cadres who dare to think, dare to do, dare to act for the common good; the work of inspection, supervision and control of power associated with the fight against corruption and negativity; fighting against wrong and distorted views, protecting the Party's ideological foundation and protecting national sovereignty in cyberspace; digital transformation and application of technology in Party work; developing 6 strategic and important socio-economic regions.
With a sense of urgency and high responsibility, the Organizing Committee of the 8th National Press Award on Party Building - 2023 has established a Preliminary Council consisting of dedicated, responsible and experienced journalists in judging press awards. Accordingly, from November 17, 2023 to December 6, 2023, all subcommittees of the Preliminary Council will complete the preliminary judging.
After discussion, the Preliminary Council unanimously introduced 120 works for the final round. The Final Council democratically discussed, voted by secret ballot, and selected the best works to award prizes. Among them were 6 A prizes, 12 B prizes, 18 C prizes, 30 Encouragement prizes, and 6 special prizes.

Participating in the 8th National Press Award on Party Building - 2023, Thanh Hoa Newspaper with the topic "To make the "reserve team" an extended arm to protect the Party's ideological foundation" won the Topic Award. The topic includes 4 articles: (Article 1) Identifying the dangers; (Article 2) Inciting and inciting young people is a sinister plot of hostile forces; (Article 3) In order not to deviate from the path; (Article 4) Fighting against erroneous and hostile viewpoints: Young people take the lead.
As an excellent work on protecting the Party's ideological foundation, the topic: "To make the "reserve team" an extended arm to protect the Party's ideological foundation" has highlighted the particularly important role of youth in firmly protecting the Party's ideological foundation, effectively fighting against erroneous and hostile viewpoints, thereby contributing to protecting the Party's ideological foundation, promoting the combined strength in protecting the Party, the State, the People and the achievements of the revolution. As a trusted "reserve team", an "extended arm of the Party" in the fight against erroneous and hostile viewpoints, each member and youth is likened to those holding the "golden key" to national cyber security; each union organization is likened to a "fortress". Therefore, persistently building each union member and youth into a soldier on the cyber security front is an important contribution to protecting the Party's ideological foundation and protecting the Party's revolutionary achievements.
Along with Thanh Hoa Newspaper, Thanh Hoa Radio and Television Station has a work that won the Encouragement Prize, which is the radio report “Party members in the land of a million elephants”. The work is a story about young party members who were honored to participate in the team to collect and search for and recover the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who died in Hua Phan province, Laos. Through the work, we can better understand the will, determination, efforts as well as the daily activities and work of young party members in the special Party Cell right in Laos, to complete the noble and sacred mission assigned by the Party, State and Army.

Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized: The rich and vivid reality and good results of the cause of national construction and defense, of Party building and rectification, together with the consensus and trust of the people are valuable sources of material and unlimited inspiration to create high-quality journalistic works.
Through 8 times of organization, the National Press Award on Party building named "Golden Hammer and Sickle" has affirmed its value, attractiveness, and influence on the work of Party building, political system building, and staff building; at the same time, it affirms the profound political awareness, professional ethics, and steadfast revolutionary heart of journalists nationwide, worthy of Uncle Ho's teaching: "Press cadres are also revolutionary soldiers".
The Steering Committee and Organizing Committee of the 8th Golden Hammer and Sickle Award have directed the organization to be tight, methodical, scientific and professional under the direction of Comrade Truong Thi Mai, Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat, Head of the Central Organizing Committee. Party committees at all levels, ministries, branches and localities have proactively and actively participated and considered participating in the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award as one of the important tasks, at the same time creating a vibrant atmosphere, attracting the attention of all classes of people to the work of Party building, building the contingent of cadres and building the political system. The works participating in the Award closely followed the guidelines and viewpoints on Party building work, vividly reflecting political activities in the Party; especially urgent emerging issues such as building culture and ethics in the Party, fighting against the "fear of responsibility disease", while encouraging and protecting dynamic, creative cadres who dare to think, dare to do, dare to take responsibility for the common good; fighting against corruption and negativity; refuting wrong and distorted viewpoints, protecting the Party's ideological foundation... In addition, the works also proposed solutions to remove difficulties and obstacles, encouraging the spirit, arousing the aspiration for rapid and sustainable national development.
