Grassroots trade unions in Nghe An proactively care for workers' lives

From the movement of practical care at the grassroots level, workers' trust in the trade union organization is increasingly strengthened, affirming the union's solid "support" position in each unit.

From practical actions

From the beginning of July 2025 until now, in the context of the administrative apparatus and trade union organizational structure being rearranged, grassroots trade unions in Nghe An still promote the spirit of initiative and flexibility, implementing many practical activities, focusing on taking care of the lives of union members and workers.

One of the highlights of recent times is the health care programs for workers. Last October, the Trade Union of Sunny Automotive Optical Vietnam Co., Ltd. (WHA Industrial Park) coordinated with the company to organize periodic health check-ups for all officers and employees. This activity helps monitor and evaluate health, detect occupational diseases early and raise awareness of self-care among workers. Although it has become an annual activity, each year the program is expanded in both scale and quality.

With the spirit of "caring for the smallest things", the Trade Union of May Forestry Joint Stock Company (located in Nghia Dan commune) advised the company's Board of Directors to organize "Workers' Health Festival" - where workers were examined, given nutrition advice, participated in physical activities and received encouragement gifts.

Mr. Nguyen The Mai - General Director of the company shared: "Taking care of and protecting the health of staff and workers is not only a responsibility but also a gratitude of the Board of Directors for the contributions of workers. Through "Health Festival", we hope that each worker will be more aware of taking care of themselves, maintaining good spirit and physical strength to stay with the company for a long time".

Not only taking care of health, many grassroots unions at FDI enterprises have also proactively allocated funds to support workers in difficult circumstances. At Kyungshin Nghe An Co., Ltd. (WHA Industrial Park), the union allocated funds to encourage workers affected by storm No. 10. At the same time, Luxshare Nghe An Union awarded more than 300 scholarships to children of workers with good academic achievements, and supported union members facing difficulties in daily life.

The concern of the trade union organization also spread to the administrative and career areas. For example, the Dong Hieu Commune Trade Union surveyed the lives and jobs of workers in the area, promptly grasped their thoughts and aspirations to make recommendations to superiors to remove obstacles. At the same time, the commune trade union also organized the program "Going to school with you", giving dozens of gifts to union members' children, helping them have more motivation to enter the new school year. The Yen Thanh Commune Trade Union coordinated with MLB Tenergy Company Limited to organize the handover of 3 "Union Shelter" houses to union members in especially difficult circumstances.

The new point in the activities of grassroots unions recently is the proactiveness. Instead of waiting for support from superiors, many grassroots unions have known how to promote their own internal strength, mobilizing businesses to participate in taking care of workers, both materially and spiritually. This is the sustainable direction for trade unions to truly become the support of workers.

Keep the spirit burning - Connect the members' beliefs

If material concerns help workers feel secure in their work, spiritual activities help them love their jobs more and be more attached to the collective. Many grassroots unions in Nghe An have done a good job of "keeping the fire" of that spirit through cultural and sports movements, seminars, thematic activities, creating a united and positive working environment.

In early October, at Masan Nghe An Company Limited (Nam Cam Industrial Park), the Teambuilding 2025 program with the theme "Passion to Win Big" became the most anticipated event of the year. Hundreds of officers and employees participated in team games, cultural exchanges and a gala night to honor outstanding individuals. "Programs like this help people get closer, understand each other better; the working atmosphere afterwards is also much more positive," said Mr. Le Quoc Dat, a union member of the company.

Meanwhile, Chau Au Nghe An Plastic Company Limited (also located in Nam Cam Industrial Park) chose a warmer way of expressing: Organizing an intimate party on the occasion of Vietnamese Women's Day October 20. Each gift and each wish is a respect for the female workers - the force that accounts for the majority of production.

At Luxshare ICT Nghe An Company (VSIP Industrial Park), the series of activities "Appreciating women" took place throughout October with many rich contents: Giving cakes, gifts, organizing art competitions, decorating the check-in area brilliantly. Ms. Do Thi Thuy Linh - a worker of the company said: "The atmosphere at the company is completely different from usual days. Everyone feels happy, feels cared for and respected."

Not only in the business sector, many grassroots trade unions in the administrative and career sectors also strive to enrich the working environment by building “office culture corners”, maintaining book clubs, sports, or soft skills seminars. In Thanh Vinh ward, the trade union maintains the column “Weekend reading time” and seminars on office communication skills, attracting a large number of union members to participate.

According to the Nghe An Provincial Federation of Labor, since the beginning of July, hundreds of grassroots unions have organized cultural and sports activities, competitions, and “Workers’ Festivals”, attracting tens of thousands of union members to participate. Many models such as “Union members’ birthdays”, “Nutrition-guaranteed shift meals”, and “Workers’ family festivals” are being replicated in many localities.

From simple activities - a team building session, a cultural night or a common activity hour, the spirit of solidarity and sharing is spreading, helping workers, civil servants and employees to be more proud of being members of the union. Comprehensive care, both material and spiritual, is the foundation for employees to feel secure in their dedication, businesses to develop sustainably, and unions to become stronger.
