Viettel exceeds 5G deployment commitment

Viettel has just announced that it has completed the construction of 20,000 new 5G stations in 2025, more than three weeks ahead of the schedule committed to the Government . This is an important milestone, showing the strong efforts of the enterprise in promoting national digital infrastructure.

According to the plan, by December 31, the total number of Viettel 5G stations on the entire network will reach 30,000 stations. With this scale, Viettel's 5G network will cover up to 90% of outdoor areas nationwide, opening up high-speed connectivity for tens of millions of users in both urban and rural areas.

The simultaneous deployment of a large number of broadcasting stations not only helps Viettel own the largest 5G network in Vietnam, but also affirms its pioneering position in the field of telecommunications and digital technology. This is also a strategic step to create a foundation for new technology applications such as the Internet of Things (IoT), smart cities, self-driving cars and digital services in healthcare, education and e-commerce.

In addition to the growth in the number of 5G stations, Viettel said it is also the only unit in Vietnam to deploy a standalone 5G network (SA). This is a complete 5G network, all core network components to radio transmission equipment are of the 5G network generation instead of being shared with 4G, can reach speeds of up to 10 Gbps and in fact is 15-20 times higher than 4G.

US allows export of Nvidia's H200 AI chip to China

The US government has just announced that it will allow Nvidia to export its H200 artificial intelligence chip line to China. This decision comes with a fee on each exported chip, aiming to balance economic interests and national security issues.

President Trump said the deal would also apply to other companies like AMD and Intel, stressing the goal is to protect national security, create more jobs at home and maintain America's leadership in AI.

However, the decision has also been criticized by some US lawmakers, who fear that selling advanced AI chips could help China strengthen its military capabilities. A report from the Progressive Institute said the H200 is nearly six times more powerful than the H20 – the chip the US currently allows to be exported to China.

Meanwhile, China is said to have responded positively to this information. Although the US chip market in China was once restricted by regulations and bans, the reopening is seen as an opportunity for Chinese technology companies to access stronger hardware resources, instead of relying solely on domestic products from Huawei or Alibaba.

The biggest highlight is the Android XR smart glasses, developed with famous fashion brands like Warby Parker and Gentle Monster. These glasses will integrate cameras, microphones, speakers and displays, and allow users to communicate directly with the Gemini assistant.

Additionally, Google is partnering with XREAL to bring Project Aura to life. This is a line of wired XR glasses that blend digital content with the real world, but this time it will run on Android XR instead of XREAL's own platform. This change promises to bring a more powerful and smoother experience.
