An Lao is a mountainous district 115 km northwest of Quy Nhon city center. The highest point is An Toan commune, 1,000 m above sea level, considered the "heavenly gate" of Binh Dinh province. At dawn and dusk, An Lao is hidden among clouds and thick fog.
With an area of nearly 70,000 hectares, of which 90% is forest, An Lao has a cool climate and fresh scenery.
