Many electric poles were broken and fell.
After the flood, the power grid in Tay Khanh Son commune was severely affected. The medium voltage line suffered serious damage with 5 poles broken; 13 transformer stations were isolated, causing more than 1,000 customers to lose power. In Tay Khanh Vinh commune, floods and landslides also damaged 8 medium voltage grid locations with 600m of line; 15 concrete power poles collapsed. This incident isolated 21 transformer stations, causing more than 1,000 households to lose power.
In the face of the emergency, restoring the power grid in mountainous areas is extremely urgent. Because when there is no electricity, domestic water plants are also suspended, and the communication system is also affected. Therefore, restoring the power source is not only a task but also an urgent issue, especially in the conditions of restoring life and production after natural disasters.

Mr. Nguyen Hai Duc - General Director of Khanh Hoa Electricity Joint Stock Company, emphasized: “As soon as the incident occurred, we determined that restoring the damaged power grid at the isolated points in the mountainous areas was the top priority, requiring all efforts and a rapid construction plan. However, the damaged power grid areas all have complex and dangerous terrain and many landslides. Therefore, when restoring the power grid system, there will be many potential safety risks. However, with the motto of pushing the fastest progress and the highest determination, all officers and employees of the company have defied all difficulties to bring light back to the people.”
Urgent recovery
Accessing the damaged power grid areas in mountainous communes is very challenging. The landslide site is located deep in the mountains, where the ground becomes loose after heavy rain, posing a risk of secondary landslides. On the afternoon of November 24, as soon as the road was temporarily opened to traffic, the Cam Ranh - Khanh Son Power Management Team held an urgent meeting to deploy the construction plan. The plan is to complete the restoration of the power grid by November 25.
To achieve this goal, logistics work is carried out urgently; materials and equipment are prepared. Safety inspections and geological risk assessments are strictly carried out, ensuring absolute safety for workers.

Mr. Hoang Ngoc Tu - Captain of Cam Ranh - Khanh Son Power Management Team said: “Our principle is urgency - determination - absolute safety. When arriving at the scene, seeing the people in the highlands in need after the flood, without electricity for daily life, all the workers told themselves to try their best, work through the night, take advantage of every minute to bring electricity back as soon as possible. Especially in the mountainous areas, we have to check every meter of wire, every device, and handle every small incident. Even if we have to be dirty in the mud or walk for kilometers to reach the incident area, we still work with the highest determination.”
Cam Ranh - Khanh Son Power Management Team mobilized 34 experienced officers, engineers, workers and 2 excavators to the line. Four working groups were established, simultaneously implementing items such as: Handling temporary foundations, clearing power grid corridors, connecting broken wires, installing beams and erecting new poles. All works were carried out in steep terrain conditions, with the risk of landslides always lurking. With high determination and professionalism, on November 25, Cam Ranh - Khanh Son Power Management Team successfully energized and restored power supply to 13 transformer stations and 1,033 customers in the Tay Khanh Son area.

In the West Khanh Vinh area, Khanh Hoa Electricity Joint Stock Company also carried out a similar "lightning-speed" campaign. The company quickly mobilized more than 50 workers and 15 vehicles to organize the construction of a new damaged power line. In just one day, 8 medium-voltage positions with 15 concrete pillars and more than 600m of medium-voltage power line were completed. To date, power has been restored to 21 transformer stations, serving 1,030 households, affirming the flexible and effective response capacity of the Electricity industry.
Mr. Nguyen Hai Duc - General Director of Khanh Hoa Electricity Joint Stock Company, affirmed: “The efforts of Khanh Hoa electricians are not just a simple task, it is also an act of sharing and accompanying people to overcome difficulties and soon stabilize their lives. Completing a large volume of construction in a rugged mountainous area in a record time of just one day is a testament to the sense of responsibility, effort and professionalism. We are committed to continuing to mobilize maximum human resources and means, closely following the scene and deploying timely technical measures, ensuring the stable and safe operation of the power system, serving the lives and production of people during this flood season”.
