Ca Mau currently has more than 400,000 hectares of aquaculture. Besides shrimp, Ca Mau crab has affirmed its brand and economic efficiency. According to Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Van Su, the famous delicious taste of Ca Mau crab not only comes from the favor of nature, but is also the result of the dedication, hard work and experience of the people in the southernmost part of the country.
“The people of Ca Mau, with hundreds of years of experience passed down from generation to generation, have a clear understanding of the crab’s habits. They know how to select good breeds, how to care for them, and especially know when the crabs are of the best quality (firm meat, full of roe) to harvest. We believe that the unique sweetness of Ca Mau crabs is a harmonious combination of the scent of the forest - the taste of the sea, as well as diligence, intelligence and love for the homeland, which has given wings to the specialty of Ca Mau crabs to fly far and firmly position themselves in the hearts of diners both domestically and internationally,” Mr. Le Van Su emphasized.
"Heavenly time, favorable terrain, and harmony of people" have created the Ca Mau crab brand that is famous throughout the country. In 2021, Nam Can - Ca Mau crab was recognized by the Vietnam Record Association (VietKings) in the list of "Top 100 Vietnamese specialties". From this achievement, Ca Mau is taking strategic steps to firmly position the Ca Mau crab brand, including promoting the strong application of science - technology , innovation in the crab industry, especially selecting genetic breeds to preserve quality gene sources.
Mr. Quach Van An, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology, said that preserving the genetic resources of Ca Mau crabs is extremely important, helping to maintain biodiversity and prevent breed degeneration due to crossbreeding or widespread use of breeds, ensuring that the "forest flavor - sea flavor" characteristics are not lost over time. Along with that, techniques will be applied to production, creating more advanced and effective farming models and applying processing technology to preserve the unique flavor of Ca Mau crabs.

Currently, Ca Mau crabs are exported to markets such as Japan, the US, the EU, China... with strict standards. This is the clearest proof of superior quality, affirming the class of Ca Mau crabs on the world culinary map.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Van Su said that instead of focusing only on export turnover or sales of large enterprises, the province prioritizes ensuring stable income and improving the lives of tens of thousands of households directly involved in production, who are attached to crabs and the forest canopy. From there, people have a strong motivation to protect and regenerate mangrove forests - the "green wall" that protects Ca Mau, and at the same time is an ideal living environment that creates the unique quality of Ca Mau crabs.
"The positioning of the Ca Mau crab brand does not stop at just an agricultural product, but we also aim to make Ca Mau crab a symbol of the local cultural ambassador, making its name on the domestic and world culinary map," Mr. Quach Van An emphasized.
