On January 23, 2026, at the Hanoi campus of RMIT University Vietnam, the Trade Promotion Agency ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ) and RMIT University Vietnam signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to cooperate in enhancing the competitiveness of Vietnamese businesses and promoting the building and development of national brands in domestic and international markets.

The memorandum of understanding was signed by Mr. Vu Ba Phu, Director General of the Trade Promotion Department, and Scott Thompson-Whiteside, General Director of RMIT University Vietnam. This event marks a new stage in the cooperative relationship between the two parties, continuing the effective collaboration over the past period in capacity building activities for businesses and promoting the Vietnam National Brand Program.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Vu Ba Phu affirmed that the signing of the MOU opens a new phase of cooperation between the Trade Promotion Agency and RMIT University Vietnam. The combination of expertise, experience, and networks of both sides is expected to contribute to supporting Vietnamese businesses in building strong brands, enhancing competitiveness in the global market, and contributing to sustainable economic growth.
On behalf of RMIT University Vietnam, Professor Scott Thompson-Whiteside emphasized that the cooperation between the two sides is built on a foundation of trust, shared values, and a commitment to contributing to the goal of enhancing Vietnam's competitiveness. RMIT University Vietnam affirms its role as a bridge between Vietnam and global knowledge, networks, and opportunities, and commits to working alongside the Trade Promotion Agency to implement initiatives that bring practical benefits to businesses, society, and the economy.

According to the Memorandum of Understanding, the two parties agreed to establish a long-term cooperation framework in the fields of trade promotion, training, research, and education related to brand development and international business. Based on this, the Trade Promotion Agency and RMIT University Vietnam will jointly organize activities within the framework of the annual Vietnam National Brand Forum; develop and implement training and consulting programs for businesses; and conduct research to support policy planning and business strategy development. The Trade Promotion Agency will act as a coordinator, connecting RMIT University Vietnam with the business community and providing data and guidance for cooperative activities.

The signing ceremony not only demonstrates the effective cooperation between the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency and RMIT University Vietnam, but also affirms the long-term commitment of both parties to supporting Vietnam's development and international integration. In the future, both sides will continue to expand the scope and enhance the effectiveness of cooperation, aiming to implement in-depth initiatives that create a positive impact on the business community and the economy.
