On December 5, the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) held a press conference to inform about the opening ceremony of the exhibition and announce the awards of the “Happy Vietnam 2024” Photo and Video Contest. Notably, this year's contest has 581 international authors and 265 Vietnamese authors abroad participating.

Mr. Pham Anh Tuan, Director of the Department of External Information (Ministry of Information and Communications) said: After nearly 7 months of launching (from March 20, 2024 to the deadline for receiving works on October 15, 2024), the contest has attracted a total of 6,863 authors, with 10,327 photo and video works, including 9,657 photo works and 670 video works. Among the participating authors, there are 581 international authors, 265 Vietnamese authors abroad, with nearly 1,000 works and more than 50% of the authors have participated in the contest in 2023. Through personal assessment, the photo angles of foreign authors are simple, capturing life as it is happening. The authors focused on capturing the beautiful scenery of Vietnam, the countryside, the ordinary people they met in life, or the antiquity towards sustainability... According to the Organizing Committee, the opening ceremony of the exhibition and the announcement of the awards of the Photo and Video Contest "Happy Vietnam - Happy Vietnam 2024" will take place on the evening of December 11, at the Hanoi Opera House. The event will be broadcast live on VTV4 Foreign Television Channel of Vietnam Television, livestreamed on VTV Digital channel and on the Vietnam Image Promotion Platform (https://vietnam.vn).

This is the second time the contest has been held. The contest is a vivid demonstration of the deep concern and consistent policy of our Party and State towards the work of caring for the material and spiritual life of the people, taking the people as the center, in the spirit of "leaving no one behind" and creating all favorable conditions for people to participate, contribute, promote their capacity and intelligence in the cause of building, developing, protecting the Fatherland and international integration of the country. At the same time, the contest also creates opportunities for people nationwide, overseas Vietnamese and international friends to express their love for their homeland and country and their enthusiasm in creating photos and videos to promote the image of the country and Vietnamese people to the world , arousing the desire to develop a prosperous and happy nation; promoting cultural values and the strength of the Vietnamese people in the new era. After many days of serious and fair work, the Jury and Organizing Committee selected 60 videos and 150 excellent photos to display at the exhibition, of which 34 best works were awarded. The total value of the prizes for both photo and video categories is up to nearly 400 million VND, including: 2 Gold Medals; 4 Silver Medals; 6 Bronze Medals and 20 Encouragement Prizes. Prize value: Gold Medal 70 million VND; Silver Medal 20 million VND; Bronze Medal 10 million VND; Consolation prize of 5 million VND and other secondary prizes. After the award ceremony, selected works will continue to be exhibited domestically and internationally, serving the communication and promotion of Vietnam's achievements in ensuring human rights in 2025.
