The book was launched in Algeria on November 19th, marking a new milestone for the Vietnamese publishing industry on its journey to spread national historical values to the world .

The book "Dien Bien Phu," reprinted in Vietnamese by the National Political Publishing House and published by Light Books, which also released an Arabic version, is one of the most valuable original historical documents in the treasury of books on Vietnamese military history. The work compiles articles, analyses, and memoirs by General Vo Nguyen Giap on the entire process of strategic direction, force organization, and the course of the three offensives of the Dien Bien Phu Campaign in 1954.
Building upon the foundation of nine years of protracted resistance, relying primarily on self-reliance and strength, this book authentically portrays the courage, intelligence, and unwavering determination of our army and people, leading to a resounding victory that "shook the world and resonated across continents." Through multiple editions, especially the 2024 and 2025 releases, the book has been revised and supplemented with important documents to ensure the integrity of the historical records left by the General.
The work consists of four main parts: "Letters from President Ho Chi Minh to the Dien Bien Phu Front"; "Dien Bien Phu"; "Articles about Dien Bien Phu," along with an appendix containing daily orders, attack orders, battle statistics, enemy-friendly situations, and other related documents. Many elements of "original historical source material" have been preserved by the publisher, demonstrating absolute respect for the content compiled by General Vo Nguyen Giap himself.

The translation of the book "Dien Bien Phu" into Arabic was undertaken by a team of translators who are lecturers from the Department of Arabic Language and Culture - Faculty of Foreign Languages - Vietnam National University, Hanoi, in collaboration with the National Political Publishing House. This is an important step in introducing Vietnamese history to international friends, especially the Arab community, which has friendly relations and multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam.
This book not only helps regional readers access one of the most iconic military victories of the 20th century but also opens up opportunities for extensive research and academic exchange on Vietnam's national liberation war, military art, and peace-loving spirit.
With its domestic reprinting, translation into Arabic, and widespread introduction, General Vo Nguyen Giap's book "Dien Bien Phu" continues to affirm its timeless value, becoming a bridge bringing Vietnamese history closer to readers around the world.
The National Political Publishing House hopes that through this work, it will contribute to deepening the understanding of international friends about a resilient, creative, and humane Vietnam; and at the same time continue to inspire the spirit of great unity, self-reliance, and patriotism in the journey of building and developing the country today.
