Saving people in flood-stricken areas with the command of the heart.

Central Vietnam is currently suffering from a historic flood, causing severe damage to people's lives. However, in this context, hostile forces and malicious individuals have exploited the situation to distort the truth and slander the government for being "passive and slow in providing relief." At this time, it is more important than ever to fairly and objectively acknowledge the efforts of the entire political system, local authorities, ministries, and other crucial forces.

The prolonged heavy rains and floods from November 16-22 in the South Central provinces from Quang Tri to Khanh Hoa caused numerous rivers in Dak Lak , Lam Dong, and Ninh Hoa to surpass the historical flood levels of 1986, 1993, and 2009, exhibiting extreme and unpredictable patterns. This flood event saw continuously increasing intensity and frequency, far exceeding the drainage capacity of existing infrastructure, especially in urban areas and densely populated regions, with rainfall generally ranging from 150 to 650 mm, and reaching a remarkable 1,037 mm in Dak Lak.

According to incomplete statistics from localities, as of November 23, 2025, floods and heavy rains had caused 83 deaths and disappearances; more than 1,100 houses were damaged, nearly 186,000 houses were severely flooded; nearly 81 hectares of rice and crops were damaged, over 3.2 million livestock and poultry were killed or swept away; hundreds of roads were damaged or affected by landslides causing prolonged traffic congestion, and more than 1.17 million customers lost power… Initial economic losses are estimated at over 9,000 billion VND.

Over the past few days, images of people in flood-affected areas, isolated and awaiting relief, struggling to cope with the raging floodwaters, have been shared and encouraged by the community and people nationwide. Many organizations and individuals have voluntarily donated goods and essential supplies in various ways to the flood-stricken areas, hoping that the people will soon overcome all difficulties and stabilize their lives.

The hearts of the entire nation are focused on Central Vietnam day and night. The entire political system has activated an emergency response, mobilizing all available rescue forces from the army, police, border guards, militia, fire brigades, youth shock troops, and experienced local residents. The Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Public Security have also mobilized hundreds of thousands of officers and soldiers, with approximately 14,000 vehicles deployed to respond to the floods, conduct rescue and relief operations, and search and rescue efforts.

These past few days have been days of the highest sense of responsibility among officials and civil servants in the local government apparatus. Many officials and soldiers have worked tirelessly, enduring danger, even sacrificing their minds and strength for the safety of the people. All of this stems from the heartfelt command of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh: "Absolutely no situation should be allowed where people are isolated in their homes, crying for help but not receiving timely assistance." This is both an administrative command and a call of conscience, a culture of responsibility, and the spirit of "putting the people first," which has become the guiding principle of national governance. The Politburo also promptly issued documents on flood relief efforts; released national reserves to the flooded areas; and directed the Ministry of Finance to allocate 1,310 billion VND and 4,000 tons of rice for emergency support to localities to overcome the consequences of the floods.

To date, the Prime Minister has issued seven directives instructing on responding to the floods. The Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Ministers, in accordance with their assigned responsibilities, have regularly and proactively contacted provincial leaders and relevant agencies to monitor the situation and direct the implementation of flood relief efforts, with the goal of ensuring the safety of lives, minimizing damage to the people, and preventing hunger and thirst.

In addition, community support is creating a strong rescue network. Numerous volunteer groups have quickly joined the effort, donating and transporting food, water, and essential supplies to flood-affected areas. Everyone is participating in the relief efforts with the spirit of "national solidarity and brotherhood, helping in whatever way they can, whether it's a lot or a little, contributing their labor or resources, and helping wherever it's convenient"...

Undeniably, in the context of complex flood situations, the deployment of relief efforts to affected areas faces numerous obstacles. Roads are isolated, traffic is disrupted by landslides, and strong floodwaters make it difficult for rescue forces to reach affected areas. Furthermore, in critical moments, search and rescue operations do not always proceed smoothly.

During the storms and floods, the entire political and social system, along with the people, exerted all their efforts, working day and night to overcome dangers and rescue people, bringing them to safety. However, somewhere, there are still those who deliberately distort, slander, and falsely accuse the government and functional forces of abandoning the people, aiming to sow discord and undermine national unity. Many hostile elements and forces have taken advantage of the situation to spread subversive rhetoric, creating doubt with distorted language and fabricated images such as: "Defeated by the floods," "the floods in recent days have caused thousands of deaths and disappearances," "calls for help went unanswered," "besides extreme weather, hydroelectric dams, and deforestation, the floods were also caused by slow rescue efforts," causing public panic.

However, these subversive and negative arguments are not only lacking in humanity, but also malicious distortions, blatant fabrications, and easily identifiable misrepresentations of the truth. The Party, the State, the entire army, and the entire people are focusing all their efforts and love on the flood-stricken areas. Local authorities are rapidly implementing relief measures, forecasting and mitigating the consequences of the floods. As soon as information about the natural disaster was received, relevant agencies organized relief teams, mobilizing forces and resources to reach the affected people as quickly as possible. Many organizations and individuals have also spontaneously donated, demonstrating the solidarity and mutual support of the Vietnamese people.

Every citizen needs to be vigilant when viewing and sharing information, strongly condemn acts of spreading false information, exploiting technology to fabricate content that causes public panic, and identify distorted narratives. They should actively work together to spread accurate information; at the same time, they should place their trust in the leadership of the Party and the State in overcoming the consequences of natural disasters and building a strong and prosperous nation.
