According to TASS news agency, speaking on October 31, Mr. Gates said that Ukraine's attack on Russia's Kursk province was a serious strategic mistake and that Kiev should have focused its forces on strengthening the Donbass front, which is under great pressure from Moscow.

He admitted that the West underestimated Russia's capabilities at the start of the conflict - a significant mistake that has left Moscow with the upper hand.

On the same day, Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov expressed reservations about the possibility of a peaceful solution. He emphasized that "peace" is a concept that can be applied to many different situations, but does not guarantee the interests of the parties involved, even within the entire continent.

Earlier, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said that Western countries "finally realized that they need to negotiate in Ukraine" and mentioned the possibility of "peace".

On the same day, speaking at the United Nations Security Council meeting, Russian Ambassador to the UN Vassily Nebenzia revealed shocking information about secret appendices in Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's "Victory Plan".

Accordingly, Kiev is ready to hand over the right to exploit many strategic resources such as uranium, titanium, lithium and graphite to Washington.

He said that this could violate Article 13 of the Ukrainian Constitution, which stipulates that the territory of this Eastern European country does not belong to the government . In addition, Kiev agreed to transfer assets of the defense industry to the European Union (EU) in exchange for loans from frozen Russian assets.

The plan, announced by Mr. Zelensky in mid-October with the ambition of ending the conflict by 2025, includes five public provisions and three secret annexes. The main proposals are Ukraine joining the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), lifting restrictions on attacks on Russian territory and deploying a "comprehensive non-nuclear deterrent package."

The plan has been criticised by both the EU and NATO for placing too many obligations on Western allies without any commitment from Kiev. Russia has rejected the proposal, with Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov calling on Ukraine to “wake up” and realise the “futility” of its current policy.

Kiev has not yet commented on the information provided by the Russian diplomat .
