Former US Deputy Secretary of Defense: Washington will not negotiate because of Russia's success on the battlefield . Former US Deputy Secretary of Defense Stephen Bryan said that the US will not negotiate about Ukraine because of the successes of the Russian army.

The United States will not even consider negotiations on the future of Ukraine now, because Russia is gaining the advantage on the battlefield ,” Mr. Bryan stressed.

According to the former Deputy Secretary of Defense, the United States will try to help Ukraine achieve certain successes in the war with Russia, while increasing attacks on Russian territory - taking into account President Biden's condition that these attacks will not affect Moscow.

However, such a scenario from Washington is unlikely to happen as the Russian military continues to advance ,” the former US Deputy Secretary of Defense expressed.

Russia takes control of two more frontline villages . According to the Russian Defense Ministry , Russian soldiers have just taken control of two more villages in the Ukrainian frontline area.

The Russian Defense Ministry said both new advances by Moscow’s forces in Ukraine were the work of the western battle group. The village of Artyomovka in the eastern Luhansk region and the village of Timkovka in the northeastern Kharkiv region are now in Russian hands.

Russian authorities reported that near the Kupyansk and Nevskoye frontlines, many Ukrainian units suffered heavy losses. In the past 24 hours alone, Kiev estimated that it had lost more than 560 soldiers in the area.

Moscow assesses that the Ukrainian army has been gradually losing ground to Russian soldiers in recent months, especially with serious defeats in Kharkiv last month.

Ukraine hopes Russia will attend peace conference . Andriy Yermak, chief of staff of the Ukrainian President, said Kiev wants Russia to attend the second summit to accept the internationally agreed roadmap to end the conflict.

According to Mr. Yermak, the “bad experience” from previous negotiations with Russia, before Moscow launched a special military operation in February 2022, showed that it was necessary to end the conflict on an internationally supported basis from the beginning, based on international law.

For the second summit, we will work with all our colleagues, with all countries that want to participate. We are looking for the possibility of inviting Russian representatives to jointly present a common plan at the second summit ,” Yermak stressed.

Ukraine suffers heavy energy losses . Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russian attacks have destroyed half of Ukraine's electricity production capacity since winter.

Russia's months-long offensive has caused severe energy shortages in Ukraine, leading to blackouts.

" Due to Russian missile and UAV attacks, 9 GW of capacity was destroyed. The peak of electricity consumption last winter was 18 GW. So half of it is now non-existent, " he said at a conference in Berlin, Germany.

Ukraine's leader called on countries to provide more air defense systems, saying missiles and bombs were helping Russian soldiers advance on the battlefield.

Germany sends more missiles, ammunition to Ukraine . German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced that Berlin will deliver to Kiev new air defense systems, including Patriot, IRIS-T and Gepard, as well as missiles and ammunition in the “coming weeks and months”. Mr. Scholz also called on the countries present at the conference to support Germany’s initiative to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense capabilities “with all their might”.

Previously, Mr. Scholz's government announced that it had begun training Ukrainian soldiers to use the third Patriot air defense system before sending it to Kiev.
