Diversify activities to support farmers in developing production and business

In recent times, the Tan Phong Ward Farmers' Association has actively implemented many service activities, consulting and supporting farmers to develop production and business...

One of the effective activities is the training and vocational training for farmers. Accordingly, the Association has coordinated to organize 13 technical training courses on the safe use of pesticides on vegetables and tea plants and instructions on biosafety livestock farming. The training courses help farmers master technical processes; proactively prevent and control animal diseases; and at the same time, protect the production environment.

Along with that, the Association coordinated to organize 11 short-term vocational training courses for 330 members in many diverse occupations such as: agricultural machine repair, embroidery, beverage mixing, mushroom growing, vegetables, passion fruit, pears and animal husbandry. Many vocational training models were maintained and promoted effectively, typically embroidery, agricultural machine repair, chicken raising. After training, the rate of members having jobs reached over 90%.

After the training course, many farmers in Tan Phong ward boldly changed their livestock farming models, increasing their family income.

Along with training activities, the Ward Farmers' Association also promotes the promotion and consumption of agricultural products for members. Through the Lai Chau Farmers' Information Book, the Electronic Information Page and the Store linking - introducing - consuming safe agricultural products of the Provincial Farmers' Association, many typical agricultural products have been widely introduced. 100% of members with OCOP products, local typical products are given the opportunity to participate in exhibitions at major events inside and outside the province such as: Provincial Patriotic Emulation Congress, Party Congresses at all levels for the 2025-2030 term... Thereby, agricultural products of members are increasingly known by more people and consumed more widely. Notably, the Association sent 4 members to join the trade promotion delegation, met and signed a contract on product consumption principles with OCOP Vietnam Trading Company Limited, and at the same time, guided members to register accounts and put agricultural products on e-commerce platforms to expand online consumption channels.

In addition to technical and market support, capital and credit support for farmers has also been actively implemented. The Association has coordinated to lend capital to members from the Farmers Support Fund at all levels with 12 projects, totaling nearly 5 billion VND; currently, there are 11 projects with over 4 billion VND outstanding for 74 households. The loan models are all developing well, bringing high and stable income. Along with that, the Association has coordinated with the Provincial Social Policy Bank to maintain 16 savings and loan groups with 628 loan households, total outstanding debt of over 48 billion VND, savings of over 1 billion VND, overdue debt only accounts for 0.04%. These figures clearly demonstrate the efficiency, prestige and sense of responsibility of the loan groups as well as the members' trust in the Association.

Through financial support from the Ward Farmers' Association, many members have become good farmers and businessmen.

The project of raising deer for breeding and velvet collection is one of the typical activities demonstrating the role of accompanying and supporting members of the Ward Farmers' Association in economic development. From the orientation of converting the structure of crops and livestock to suit local characteristics, the Association has supported 5 households to borrow 80 million VND/household from the Provincial Farmers' Support Fund.

As one of the households participating in the project of raising deer for breeding and velvet collection, Ms. Nguyen Thi Toan's family in Xeo Xin Chai residential group has boldly renovated the hilly land, invested in building solid barns and bought 11 deer to raise. Ms. Toan shared: "At first, my family was very worried because this was a new model, without much experience. However, thanks to the attention, enthusiastic guidance and timely encouragement of the ward Farmers' Association officials, we have more confidence to boldly invest. The Association also organized technical training, supported loans and regularly visited and shared experiences, helping me feel secure in developing the model. Currently, the livestock herd is growing well."

With the support of the Ward Farmers' Association, many production facilities have boldly applied new technology to production, improving product quality.

Ms. Duong Thi Nhai - President of Tan Phong Ward Farmers' Association said: In order to help farmer members develop the economy, the Association also actively transfers new science, technology and technology in production and business. Especially implementing the Project "Enhancing the role of the Vietnam Farmers' Association in supporting farmers to start innovative businesses in the period 2020-2025", the Association has sent 360 members to participate in training courses on capital, materials, techniques and startups. Thanks to that, many members have boldly chosen new production models, promoting the potential and strengths of the locality, applying scientific and technological advances to production practices, contributing to the development of sustainable agricultural economy.

It can be said that, with the sense of responsibility and innovation in the way of doing things, the service, consulting and support activities of the Ward Farmers' Association have truly become a reliable support for farmer members. Thanks to that, the material and spiritual life of farmers is increasingly improved, the average income per capita in 2025 is estimated to reach 59 million VND.

In the coming time, the Association will continue to promote the achieved results, strengthen links with organizations, businesses and banks, create more favorable conditions for farmers to develop production, increase income, and contribute to building an increasingly rich and civilized homeland.
