Diverse and effective in blood donation to save lives

Blood donation clubs in the city are constantly innovating communication methods, expanding the scope of activities, improving the efficiency of mobilizing blood sources from the community... to proactively provide blood to save lives.

The city currently has 12 voluntary blood donation clubs, with more than 1,500 core members, of which 3 clubs belong to the Office of the City's Voluntary Blood Donation Steering Committee. The models of blood donation clubs in the city are quite diverse, such as reserve blood donation, rare blood types, voluntary blood donation by students in universities...

The activities of the clubs are systematic, diverse and flexible. Mr. Pham Tuan Vu, Chairman of the Hai Duong Youth Blood Donation Club, said: the club has about 200 members, representing or in charge of colleges and universities in the west of the city. Before mobilizing blood donation, the club conducts a survey by region and sends a specific plan to the People's Committee of the commune and ward to coordinate the organization of a "Blood Donation Festival". On average, each month, the club organizes 1 "Blood Donation Festival", collecting 300 - 400 units of blood. In addition, the club maintains a zalo group of the Living Blood Bank Club, consisting of 300 members and posts video clip communication products on the Youtube channel..., to mobilize young people and students to register to donate blood.

The Hoa Phuong Blood Donation Volunteer Club regularly organizes blood donations at AEONMALL Hai Phong Le Chan Shopping Center. The club's blood donation communication activities are often associated with major events, attracting the attention of many people to visit and shop on occasions such as: Couples Blood Donation Festival on Valentine's Day (February 14); Donating blood for loved ones (International Women's Day March 8), with the other half on Blood Donation Day (October 20)... Blood donation activities often include lucky draws, giving away movie tickets, giving away calligraphy, giving away free oral health care vouchers..., thus attracting the attention of many people.

Meanwhile, the Vietnam Heart Volunteer Club focuses on small group communication, gathering and linking volunteer teams and groups when organizing blood donation festivals. Chairman of the Vietnam Heart Volunteer Club Tran Trong Hieu informed that in 2025, the club plans to mobilize about 1,800 units of blood. To increase the number of blood donors in the community, the club focuses on posting information on Facebook, Zalo, mobilizing groups of colleagues and classmates to participate in blood donation.

In addition, voluntary blood donation clubs in the city maintain connections with a number of youth groups and young entrepreneurs who actively participate in humanitarian charity activities such as: Sharing Life Club, Hai Dang Volunteer Club (under the City Youth Union)... to mobilize sponsors and philanthropists to participate in developing and spreading the blood donation movement at enterprises in the sense of "donating blood is a noble gesture".

Promote the movement

In Hai Phong, the voluntary blood donation movement is also taking place vigorously in universities and colleges. The Blood Donation Club of Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy often organizes a variety of "blood house" activities such as: collecting double blood donation certificates, mini-game "guessing the correct amount of blood donated - winning prizes", organizing training activities for volunteers... with the results of voluntary blood donation.

The Vietnam Maritime University Blood Donation Club was established nearly 4 years ago and has maintained a fixed blood donation point, located on the 1st floor of Building C2, operating on Thursdays and held twice a month. The fixed blood donation point is not only a destination for staff, lecturers, students, and volunteers, but also attracts a large number of city residents, people with a charitable heart and a spirit of "mutual love and support".

Ms. Do Nhat Anh, Head of the Youth Blood Donation Team of Hai Duong Medical Technical University, shared: The team has more than 100 members, representing many faculties and classes in the school. Every year, the team organizes 2 big Blood Donation Festivals (March and October). This year, the team mobilized about 1,200 participants, collecting nearly 1,000 units of blood. During the event, the team also organized many exciting activities such as group games, giving handmade gifts... to attract and appeal to young people.

As the standing agency of the City's Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation, the City Red Cross Society has implemented many activities to promote flexibility and creativity in blood donation mobilization of units and clubs.

Comrade Bui Manh Phuc, Deputy Head of the City's Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation, Chairman of the City Red Cross Society, informed: The City Association always encourages and creates favorable conditions for voluntary blood donation clubs to organize and mobilize blood donations in the community. Along with that, the association will develop a plan to deploy training courses and improve blood donation mobilization skills for volunteers; develop a plan for exchanges and meetings between groups and clubs promoting voluntary blood donation in the city, in order to continue to strengthen the role of participation, improve the effectiveness of contributions so that these clubs always become the "core nucleus" in the city's voluntary blood donation movement.
