According to Mr. Nguyen Hong Lai, this landslide is at Km 71 of National Highway 40B in Tra Giac village, Tra Tan commune. The landslide occurred on October 30. Yesterday (October 31), the National Highway 40B management unit mobilized excavators and bulldozers to scoop up the soil and clear the road for temporary traffic.

"At 7:35 this morning, while the excavator driver continued to dig up dirt and clear the road, suddenly a large amount of dirt and rocks on the hill continued to slide down. Fortunately, the driver was safe, but the excavator was stuck in the mud," informed the Secretary of the Tra Tan Commune Party Committee.

According to the report of the People's Committee of Tra Tan commune, as of the afternoon of October 31, 52 houses of people in the commune were affected by landslides. In the commune's villages, there were more than 34 large and small landslides, with many more continuing to collapse. Main roads such as National Highway 40B were seriously eroded in many sections. The forces made efforts to repair the situation on Highway 40B, which was cleared by noon on October 31.

On the same day, Mr. Phan Duy Hung, Chairman of Tra Doc Commune People's Committee, said that the forces had just crossed the river to transport 500 necessities to people in two villages isolated by a landslide on a local road late last night (October 31).
