Da Nang introduces the colorful and multi-experience New Year Festival 2026

On the afternoon of December 9, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a press conference to introduce the Danang New Year Festival 2026. The program was attended by city leaders, representatives of departments, branches, tourism businesses and many central and local press agencies.

Speaking at the press conference, Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi - Vice Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City said that in the first 11 months of 2025, accommodation establishments in the area are estimated to serve about 16.5 million visitors, including nearly 7 million international visitors, with revenue from accommodation, food and beverage, and travel estimated at more than 52 trillion VND.

The Da Nang New Year Festival 2026 will be held from December 30, 2025 to January 3, 2026 at the East bank park of Dragon Bridge, Bach Dang walking street and some other locations in the area, while connecting with activities in Hoi An and Tam Ky city (formerly Quang Nam ).

The festival is designed as a long-term series of activities, combining many types of culture, art, sports, cuisine and commercial services. In particular, from December 20, 2025 to January 3, 2026, the city will deploy 4 check-in model spaces "Welcome New Year 2026" on the East and West banks of Dragon Bridge, An Hoi Sculpture Garden in Hoi An and March 29 Square.

The opening ceremony will be held at 7:00 p.m. on December 30, 2025 at the East Bank Park of Dragon Bridge with art activities staged in a modern style, combining music, dance, sound effects and lighting. People and tourists can watch the program, participate in interactive activities, experience cuisine and shopping at the "Cheer Fest - Connecting Joy" area, taking place from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. every day during the festival.

One of the notable highlights is the “Da Nang – Welcome New Year 2026” Avenue on Bach Dang walking street, held for three nights from December 30, 2025 to January 1, 2026. This space is arranged into performance and interactive areas such as New Year dance, New Year colors, New Year rhythm, with hip hop activities, dance sport, zumba, street art, New Year greeting writing area and connecting music programs of domestic and international bands.

This year’s festival also included for the first time the night race “Light up the Han River - Run to the Future” with a distance of about 5 km. The running route starts from Bach Dang walking street, crosses Dragon Bridge, Tran Hung Dao Street, Nguyen Van Troi Bridge and then returns to the starting point.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism also connects the Da Nang New Year Festival 2026 with year-end promotion and shopping programs in the city. These include year-end promotion season, branded promotion festival, stimulus programs at shopping centers, supermarkets, hotel systems, resorts, and travel businesses.

According to Mr. Tan Van Vuong - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang city, linking festivals with commercial and service activities helps tourism businesses have more opportunities to reach customers, increase revenue during peak seasons, and at the same time create a ripple effect in terms of image, contributing to affirming Da Nang as a festival and event destination in the region.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi - Vice Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City, the city hopes to use the festival to create a vibrant atmosphere on the occasion of the New Year transition, diversify products, affirm Da Nang as a festival and event destination in the region, so that "every citizen and every tourist coming to Da Nang at the end of the year will have memorable experiences"./.
