According to records, the bridge abutment on the Hoi An side was severely eroded, part of the approach road was completely washed away into the Thu Bon River. The embankments on both sides of the bridge abutment were also damaged, many areas of land along the bank were washed away, and traffic between the two localities was paralyzed.
According to the leaders of Nam Phuoc commune, the locality installed barriers, put up warning signs and temporarily stopped traffic across the bridge from Nam Phuoc commune to ensure the safety of people and vehicles immediately after detecting the incident.

Ba Ngan Bridge is over 200m long, only about 3.5m wide, built a long time ago, does not meet current traffic needs, especially for cars and trucks. In recent times, the degraded condition and narrow bridge surface have caused traffic through the area to be frequently congested when thousands of vehicles pass through every day.
Previously, the leaders of the People's Committee of the former Quang Nam province directly surveyed, inspected the site and requested relevant units to urgently establish an investment project to build a new Ba Ngan bridge.

Currently, the Quang Nam Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board is completing documents and procedures to send to the Department of Construction for appraisal to prepare for the project of building a new Ba Ngan bridge and the approach roads at both ends of the bridge.
The project is expected to start construction in early 2026, with a total investment of more than 200 billion VND.
