Da Nang: A school has landslides, at risk of collapse just 3 months after its inauguration

Prolonged heavy rain and serious landslides caused Tak Ngo school, part of Ngoc Linh Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities (Tra Linh Commune, Da Nang City), to subside, with signs of cracking and the ground at risk of collapse.

On the afternoon of November 1, Mr. Nguyen Tran Vy, Principal of Ngoc Linh Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities, said that Tak Ngo school in the mountainous commune of Tra Linh ( Da Nang City) is at risk of collapsing due to landslides.

According to Mr. Vy, due to the serious flood and landslide situation, it was not until November 1 that the locality was able to access this school.

At the scene, the concrete foundation right at the school gate was cracked and slid down the slope, creating a deep crevice, revealing the weak ground underneath. The fence system, columns and walkways were sunk and cracked.

Inside the campus, the classroom walls have many vertical and horizontal cracks running from the base of the wall up to the roof, some places have peeling paint and mortar; the concrete floor is split, raised, and runs into the classrooms.

Mr. Nguyen Tran Vy said that the new Tak Ngo school was just inaugurated in August; the project was implemented by the People's Committee of Nam Tra My District (old) in coordination with Ngoc Linh Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities, Nam Tra My Love Connection Club and Han River East Bank Golf Club.

The project has a total investment of more than 1 billion VND, of which clubs and social organizations sponsor 500 million VND, the rest is matched by the People's Committee of Nam Tra My District.

The project has an area of ​​120 m², including 1 solid classroom, 1 teacher's office, restroom, playground, roof, gate and protective fence. This school has 34 students and 2 teachers directly teaching.

The completed project will help overcome the situation of temporary study and study with others; contributing to creating a stable and safe learning environment for students in the Tra Linh highlands.
