According to the report of the Department of Health , from the beginning of 2025 to now, there have been 25 rabies outbreaks in animals in the city. In the first 9 months of the year, the whole city had 18,622 people bitten or scratched by dogs and cats and went to medical facilities in the city for preventive treatment, 1.5 times higher than the same period; no cases of rabies in humans have been recorded.
To protect public health and control and prevent the spread of rabies, the City People's Committee requests local People's Committees to strengthen the management of dog and cat herds and organize regular rabies vaccination; ensure high vaccination rates, especially in at-risk and threatened areas.
Organize inspections, monitor and strictly handle cases of letting dogs roam free, raising dogs without muzzles or vaccinations; guide people on how to manage and confine pets for monitoring when there is an outbreak; notify veterinary and health agencies when detecting suspected cases of rabies.
Strengthen propaganda work, raise people's awareness of the danger of the disease; encourage proactive vaccination for pets.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment strengthens monitoring, early detection, localization and thorough treatment of rabies outbreaks; organizes vaccination for dogs and cats with high coverage, especially in epidemic, risk and threatened areas, ensuring effective control of diseases from animals to humans.
At the same time, coordinate with relevant departments, branches, localities and agencies to synchronously and effectively deploy measures to prevent and control rabies.
