Da Nang reclaims part of coastal "suspended super project" to make public park

DNO – On July 8, the Management Board of Investment Projects for Construction of Civil, Industrial and Technical Infrastructure Works in Da Nang announced that it has just issued a document on handling citizens' opinions through the Da Nang Information and Monitoring and Smart Operation Center regarding the implementation of land recovery of part of the Pearl of Asia Tourist Area to build a public park.

This public park project was approved by the city for a detailed 1/500 plan in 2018 and later adjusted, with the content of reclaiming the land in the south of the Asian Pearl project to make a park.

According to the project management unit, the authorities have estimated the compensation and support costs for the recovered land. The report on the proposed investment policy, capital sources and the ability to balance the project's capital have been appraised by the Department of Finance. The total estimated investment is over 47.2 billion VND.

Currently, the Department of Construction is synthesizing and submitting to the City People's Committee for consideration and approval of the investment policy in July 2025. It is expected that the project dossier will be approved in October 2025, and the results of the selection of the construction contractor will be approved in March 2026.

The Asian Pearl project has an area of about 12 hectares, with a registered investment capital of up to 4,800 billion VND. It was licensed more than 15 years ago but is still "inactive", causing the area to be abandoned and overgrown with weeds right at the prime location on the coast of Da Nang .

After many meetings, the city government and the investor agreed to reclaim about 2.45 hectares south of the project to make a park, gradually handling the "suspended project" situation and returning public space to the people.
