Da Nang and Attapeu (Laos) promote cooperation in the field of labor and employment

At the reception, representatives of the Department of Home Affairs congratulated the delegation on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the National Day of the Lao People's Democratic Republic and introduced an overview of Da Nang city after the merger.

Da Nang City currently has a population of over 3 million people. In the first 9 months of 2025, the GRDP growth rate reached 9.83%. The labor structure shifted from the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector to the industry and service sector.

The labor force aged 15 and over is 1.8 million people, the number of workers working in the economy is 1.6 million people, accounting for 86% of the total labor force. The rate of trained workers in the city will reach about 73% by the end of 2025.

The city currently has more than 40,000 operating enterprises, branches and representative offices, with a total workforce of more than 562,300 people.

Of which, there are 812 enterprises/projects operating in the High-Tech Park, Concentrated Information Technology Park, industrial parks and economic zones with more than 156,000 workers, accounting for 27.74% of the total workers working in enterprises throughout the city.

The leaders of the Department of Home Affairs requested the Department of Labor and Social Welfare of Attapeu province to continue to support and create favorable conditions for the Nam Lao Investment and Production Business Company Limited and workers of Quang Nam province (formerly) to work in Attapeu province.

At the same time, it is proposed that the two sides study and sign a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of labor and employment between the two localities in the coming time.

Representatives of the Department of Labor and Social Welfare of Attapeu province informed that the whole province has a total population of more than 174,000 people, the labor force aged 15 and over will be 116,235 people by 2025, accounting for over 44% of the population.

The total working-age population is 51,500 people, of which 450,000 are employed; the labor force unemployment rate is 2.4%, equivalent to 1,238 people.

Representatives of the Department of Labor and Social Welfare of Attapeu province hope that the two departments in particular and the two localities in general will continue to strengthen their cooperative relationship in many fields, especially in the field of labor and employment.
