Da Nang: The trend of medical examination and treatment at private medical facilities is increasing.

DNO - On the morning of November 14, Vice Chairman of the City People's Council Doan Ngoc Hung Anh chaired a working session with the Social Insurance (SI) of Da Nang city and a number of private medical examination and treatment facilities under the thematic supervision program of the Standing Committee of the City People's Council on the implementation of legal provisions on the management and organization of activities of private medical examination and treatment facilities in the city in the period of 2023 - 2025.

As of September 30, in the city, there were 109 medical facilities that had signed health insurance (HI) contracts with the city's Social Insurance; of which there were 52 state-owned medical facilities and 57 private medical facilities; classified by type, there were 42 general clinics and 15 private hospitals.

In 2025, 4 medical examination and treatment facilities will be assessed and sign contracts for health insurance examination and treatment. Currently, 5 facilities are being assessed to request to sign contracts for health insurance examination and treatment.

According to assessments, private medical facilities have contributed to sharing pressure with the public health system, meeting the increasing needs of people for medical examination and treatment.

In the period 2023 - 2025, the trend of patients shifting from public medical facilities to private medical facilities (in 2023, the rate was 31% of the total number of medical visits, in 2024, the rate was 35.3% of the total number of medical visits, in the first 9 months of 2025, the rate was 37.6% of the total number of medical visits).

In the period 2023 - 2025, the total number of health insurance examinations and treatments in the private sector will be over 6.4 million, accounting for about 34% of the total number of health insurance examinations and treatments in the area. Of which, in 2023, there will be nearly 2 million visits, accounting for 31% of the total number of visits; in 2024, there will be 2.4 million visits, accounting for 35.3% of the total number of visits.

In the first 9 months of 2025, the total number of patient visits at private medical facilities was 2 million, accounting for 37% of the total visits in the whole city.

Through surveys and assessments at medical examination and treatment facilities, most health insurance participants treated at private medical facilities are satisfied with the service, patient reception, modern equipment and especially high treatment efficiency.

The total cost of health insurance examination and treatment incurred at private facilities in the period of 2023 - 2025 is 2,560 billion VND, accounting for more than 18% of the total cost of health insurance examination and treatment in the whole city.

Vice Chairman of the City People's Council Doan Ngoc Hung Anh acknowledged the performance of private medical examination and treatment facilities in the city.

For the recommendations, the monitoring delegation will receive, record and synthesize them for submission to the Standing Committee of the City People's Council for consideration and direction to competent authorities for appropriate and effective solutions according to regulations.
