
On the morning of September 16, the People's Committee of Cat Hai Special Zone coordinated with the Hai Phong City Border Guard Command and Cat Ba Border Guard Station to organize a conference to propagate about Vietnam's seas and islands and prevent illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
At the conference, the City Border Guard reported on the recent situation in the East Sea and the task of protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands in the coming time. The content emphasized the role of fishermen in coordinating with the border guards to maintain security and safety at sea.
Representatives of the Department of Fisheries, Livestock and Veterinary Medicine (Department of Agriculture and Environment) introduced legal regulations and sanctions for handling IUU fishing and clarified the responsibilities of ship owners, captains and fishermen.
The presented figures and practical examples help fishermen raise awareness, while creating frank exchanges, demonstrating determination to comply with the law.

On this occasion, the authorities specifically answered a number of opinions and recommendations from fishermen related to declaration procedures, legal documents, coordination in handling of vessels violating at sea, etc. Thereby, affirming the companionship of local authorities, Border Guard forces and the Fisheries sector with fishermen's legal offshore and sea fishing activities.
