According to forecasts, in the next week, the Northern region will be affected by two cold air waves. The first wave around February 18-19 will be weak, while the cold air wave around February 21-22 will be stronger and may reduce humidity.

Mr. Nguyen Van Huong, Head of Weather Forecast Department (National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting) said that the humid weather will occur from the end of February and last until April.

Damp spells usually last 3-5 days, sometimes even a week. This phenomenon only ends or changes when the Northeast monsoon arrives.

"The phenomenon of humid weather will occur commonly in the Northern region, especially in Hanoi from the end of February to April every year. During the humid period, the air humidity increases to over 85% along with drizzle and fog, causing dampness in houses, civil works and essential items," Mr. Huong commented.

Cold air increases, will the humidity end?

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, cold air has affected most of the northeastern region. Northeast winds inland are strong at level 2-3.

In the Northeast, it is cold, with some mountainous areas experiencing severe cold. The lowest temperature during this cold spell in the Northeast is generally between 14-17 degrees Celsius, with some mountainous areas below 13 degrees Celsius.

Hanoi area has rain, light rain; cold weather. The lowest temperature in this cold air mass is commonly 14-16 degrees.

In the North of Bac Bo Gulf, the Northeast wind is strong at level 4-5, with waves 1.0-2.0m high; in the Northeastern sea area of the North East Sea, the Northeast wind gradually strengthens to level 6, gusting to level 7-8, with rough seas and waves 2.0-4.0m high.
