In the chilly weather leading up to the 2026 Lunar New Year, amidst the vast construction site, soldiers, engineers, and workers are still diligently working with the determination to bring Gia Binh Airport to completion on schedule.

In the days leading up to the 2026 Lunar New Year, while families and individuals were busy preparing to welcome the new year, at the Gia Binh International Airport construction site , officials, soldiers, workers, and engineers were still diligently carrying out their duties to ensure the progress of this key national project.

"Working throughout the Tet holiday, staying close to the unit and construction site alongside officers, soldiers, workers, and engineers," said Colonel Nguyen Ngoc Trung, Commander of the People's Public Security Air Force Regiment (E32, under the Mobile Police Command, Ministry of Public Security ). He added that in the past period, E32 has closely coordinated with construction units and units performing duties at the project to carry out on-duty tasks, ensuring security and safety for the project implementation, and ensuring construction proceeds according to schedule.

Colonel Trung stated that during the Lunar New Year holiday , contractors continue working 24/7, so E32 has made specific plans, arranged and deployed forces to ensure security and safety for contractors during this period.

According to Colonel Trung, E32 organized Tet celebrations for its soldiers at their workplace and encouraged and motivated officers and soldiers to overcome difficulties and resolutely complete their tasks.

"The soldiers clearly understand their duties at the construction site during the Tet holiday and consider it an honor. We have deployed appropriate forces to ensure the successful completion of assigned tasks, and the first phase of the project will be completed in time for preparations for the APEC 2027 Summit," said the commander of Regiment E32.

As the team leader in charge of monitoring, exploiting, and transporting materials at the project, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Huu Chi, Head of Logistics Department E32, said that everyone felt emotional as the year ended and Tet (Lunar New Year) approached, but the officers and soldiers all recognized this as an important task, a key national project, so they put aside personal joys and maintained the highest level of work ethic.

As for himself, Lieutenant Colonel Chi said that his wife, children, and relatives were not too surprised that their father, husband, and son were away from home on New Year's Day, because everyone understood that this was a specific duty of the force.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Chi, to make the unit's Tet holiday warmer, E32 organized activities such as making banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes), competitions, sports events, and camping trips… striving to ensure that the officers and soldiers had the warmest Tet holiday possible.

Despite being far from home, the soldiers remained focused on their duties, ensuring safety and supervising the extraction and transportation of materials to ensure the project met, or even exceeded, the planned schedule.

Gia Binh International Airport, located in Bac Ninh province, approximately 40 km from the center of Hanoi , is planned to cover an area of ​​nearly 2,000 hectares. The project is expected to be not only an air gateway for Hanoi and Northern Vietnam, but also a major transit airport for the region.

With a vision extending to 2050, Gia Binh International Airport will be built to international airport standards level 4E, with a model for shared use in civil and national defense and security, operating according to ESG "green airport" standards and applying smart technology throughout.

In the initial phase, up to 2030, the project will complete two runways, a passenger terminal, a VIP terminal, and other technical facilities to accommodate approximately 30 million passengers and 1.6 million tons of cargo per year.

After 2030, the airport will expand to four runways, increasing its capacity to 50 million passengers and 2.5 million tons of cargo per year.

The goal is for Gia Binh International Airport to achieve a 4-star Skytrax rating by 2029, a 5-star rating by 2032, and to become one of the 10 most beautiful airports in the world by 2020.
