Can Tho University establishes branch in Soc Trang

On October 10, the People's Committee of Soc Trang province held a temporary handover ceremony of facilities of area A and area B of Soc Trang Community College to Can Tho University to receive and establish a branch.

Soc Trang provincial leaders hand over facilities to Can Tho University.

Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Soc Trang province Nguyen Van Khoi said that the value of the transferred assets according to accounting books is about 121.5 billion VND. Of which, there are about 2 hectares of land and some schools, administrative buildings, and other auxiliary works.

While waiting for the completion of related procedures to proceed with the project to establish a branch, the province organized the temporary handover of facilities at Area A and Area B of Soc Trang Community College to Can Tho University to support and create conditions for Can Tho University to prepare necessary conditions and soon put the Branch in Soc Trang province into operation.

Facilities were handed over to establish Can Tho University Branch in Soc Trang.

According to Decision No. 1268/QD-BGDĐT-KHTC dated April 26, 2024 of the Ministerof Education and Training, Can Tho University is allowed to establish a Branch in Soc Trang and receive assets of Soc Trang Community College according to Official Dispatch No. 3857/BGDĐT-KHTC dated July 26, 2024.

Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Trung Tinh, Rector of Can Tho University, said that the establishment of the Branch not only opens up opportunities to train high-quality human resources for the region but also contributes to the socio-economic development of Soc Trang province. The University is committed to effectively managing and using facilities, investing in infrastructure and equipment to best serve teaching, research and development.

Leaders of Soc Trang province presented flowers and souvenirs to leaders of Can Tho University.

“The branch not only opens up opportunities for training high-quality human resources but is also a place to gather and gather scientists, carry out scientific research activities and transfer technology. Can Tho University is committed to effectively managing and using invested facilities and equipment infrastructure for the right purposes of the school,” Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Trung Tinh affirmed.

According to the plan, Soc Trang Provincial Branch will train masters in the following majors: Information Technology, Agricultural Systems - majoring in climate change and sustainable tropical agriculture, Crop Science - majoring in smart agricultural engineering.

It is expected that by 2025, the Branch will provide regular university training with 3 majors: Accounting, Law, Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
